This thread is inspired by the Frazier/Norton one placed yesterday. Up until Manila,I'd have backed Frazier, handsdown. I definitely think Norton would have had a more than even chance after Ali - Frazier 3 though. Both Muhammad and Joe left chunks of themselves in the ring that night. Thoughts ???

well joe still looked good against bugner imo so if that version fought the norton that fought Ali, Joe knocks him out.

Joe was still tough after Manilla but seemed very under trained for
Foreman 2. I'm surprised Joe didn't try to get himself trim for that one,
as he employed more of a defensive style. Despite Joe's many ring wars
by that time, an in shape Frazier could have stopped Norton in '76.

The Frazier - Bugner fight was in 1973. Manila was n't until 1975.

    **** lol i forgot
one of the announcers was talking about this fight that took a lot out of frazier, i mixed it up.
i just looked at boxrec, he only had two 2 doubts after the thrilla in manila. he didn't look so good afterwards.
i think norton could definitely outpoint frazier at this point

I'd favor Norton pretty heavily if they fought in 1975-1976.

Joe had lost quite a bit at that point, just enough for Kenny to outpoint him.

I think he outpoints Frazier, but it's still a hard fight for Ken.

Sure. Why not? '76 Frazier was pretty used up when he was dusted by Foreman in New York...... Frazier was heavy but not slobbish at 224 pounds, but his fireball had burnt out by then......

Norton of '76 at Yankee stadium would've smoked Frazier like a Kool cigarette.....

Frazier was a throwback type of fighter..... Yank Durham and Eddie Futch were old school pro's....... Frazier was only age 32 in 1976, but due to his style, he was old by then....

Frazier was a shell in 1981 at age 37 and 229 pounds with Jumbo Commings, but Frazier did good for a dude who'd been retired for 5 yrs.....

    Frazier's Kool.......:deal:bbb:thumbsup

Yes, Manila emptied both Ali & Frazier... I think Norton could have beaten Frazier at that stage.

Frazier would likely win a primes match but I think Norton would give him a good fight even then.

I think that Frazier would still have won,had it been 1975.

Frazier still had some fire in him in early '75 with Ellis down in Australia...... Frazier scored the late round TKO to win...... But the Ali fight in Manila took it all outta Frazier...... Frazier was pretty shot for Foreman in '76.........
