In the upper weights, Only Pac could do is to damage his opponents via cuts and bruises, but he would not KO his opponents through one-shot KO ala Hatton. His TKO over Cotto was due to cuts that his team and the ref knew that continuing the fight would make it a lot worse.

This thread misleads the posters, including the thread title.

He could have either forced a referee stoppage easily if he didn't take his foot off the gas late. He also hurt Margarito badly with a big left to the body early in the fight (can't remember the specific round.) If Manny focused on the body more, I think he could have knocked Margarito out. But he's never been a particularly dedicated body puncher.

I think the ref would have stopped it due to damage before he got the ko. But knock him out cold, I doubt it, nobody ko margarito cold.
    Shane couldn't even do it.

    Watch the final two rounds.

If the ref didn't stop it, how many more knockdowns would Shane have needed before putting Marg to sleep, or rendering him unable to get up before 10 ?

Of course Mosley could have put gotten the KO.

The ref's stoppage was to save Marg from excessive, unnecessary futile injury.

are you saying that pac put on the same intensity in the last couple of rounds just the same as he put on the first 9 or 10 rounds? if you didn't see the difference, i suggest that you watch the fight again.

Here is what I will say, in those last couple of rounds Manny was tired as all ****, the man threw over a thousand shots at a big welter with a chin he didnt slow down to show compassion, he slowed down because he gave all he could there is no way he could have knocked out Tony

he was tired of punching margarito's face? did you see the sequence in the 10th round (?) where pac looked at the ref as he was trying to say that he needs to stop this ****. also the sequence where he whispered something to margo on a clinch and suddenly, he got "tired" of punching a defenseless margo? pac was even questioned after the fight on why he took it easy on the last couple of rounds and he blurted this quote, "boxing is not for killing."

I cant remember what round it was put Pac rocked Cheato badly with a body shot of all things and it just shows you how much accuracy there was in his punches that night and how badly he was hurting Cheato and there's no argument that Pac took the last 2 or 3 rounds off and just looked to cruise. Like I said before if Pac wanted the KO he could have gotten it and if the ref wouln't have stopped it Cheato would have collapsed onto canvas in a bloodied mess.

Can't you see the damages Pac unloading to Margarito? LMAO! Pac almost popped out Margaritos eye. The orbital bone housing his eye was broken and ready to go. He may not going down because the 17 lbs weight difference holding hin up but the damages were frightening. Margarito was done in round 10 and became a walking zombie. Imagine if Pac keep hitting that eye for another 3 rounds! Imagine that idiot.
