I for some reason see George beating the snot out Tyson's arms discouraging Tyson from sharpshooting his uppercuts. And along with George's funky guard, I think uppercuts might prove ineffective to begin with. Mike better come out quick and ding George early because there isn't anyone that Tyson faced that had George's power. I do not want anyone to come back wise and say Lennox Lewis BC that is just sheer bafoonary.

Foreman had incredible accuracy as shown in the Norton and Cooney fights. You dont need to be fast if you are so instinctively accurate.

The difference here is foot placement. Tyson atacking from the blind side. George in his prime never really saw what was coming back at him. Everybody hit George with right hands. If Tyson knocks out Larry Holmes because he was fast enough to change the angle against Larry, then Tyson can do it to Foreman too.

I may be wrong, apologies if I am (in work so cant check)

Didnt Foreman go on some talk show and when asked about the fight, he said something along the lines of "Im more scared of Don King and the dotted line than I am of Tyson"

That kind of indicates that Foreman didnt want the fight.

Thats my interpretation of it anyway.

Along with tyson v bowe and morrison its probably one of the most disappointing match ups not to have happened back then. It may have been a big let down if it had happened but it's a big shame it didn't.

I think Tyson would take Foreman out. The first half of round one would be frantic and then I'd expect Tyson to start taking over. The thought of Foreman successfully being able push Tyson into the ropes and wing uppercuts while leaving himself wide open borders on comical. The guy with no defense loses.

Big George TKO . I did believe Tyson has a legit chance of winning this fight until I heard he actually doubted himself mentally.

If you want to overcome a monster like Prime Foreman , You better be mentally Bulletproof .

Tyson is too fast, yes it would be a slugfest but tysons defense was better and tyson had a very good chin himself, no one could put him on the canvas without seriously softening him up first.
I think people are underestimating tyson's defense especially when he was on point. I dont see Foreman hitting him too often with those wild swings and even if he did Tyson has shown that he can take Big punches as long as he isnt getting dominated and beaten down. He leaned and ran into several massive loaded up ruddock uppercuts and hooks in the 2 fights and although they definitely didnt feel good he was firing back.
Tyson's fast feet would be a factor as well and he would surely be capable of stepping around foreman and getting the angle on him especially if he knew beforehand he would be facing foreman and prepared fr him in camp

I think he has more problems with the foreman that fought holyfield to be completely honest. especially if we're talking about non rooney tyson. That tyson used his legs less and fought in a way more suited to george. Still george would be dealing with a combination of handspeed and power that he never saw before. I see the best version of comeback george against the tyson of bruno 1 almost as a 50/50 fight

I've had many discussions with Steve Lott and he told me he NEVER said the above. It's all BS.
I can't believe you guys still believe a second and third handed account of a fabricated story to shame Tyson into giving an undeserving at the time Foreman a title shot! LMFAO!!!

Tyson was fast and powerful enough imo to get big George (who weighs the same as Tyson)out of there. Cus convinced a whole lot of people foreman beats shorter guys everytime. Foreman demolished frazier because he took to long to get in his stride. Tyson comes out faster than any fighter in history. And foremans lumbering compared to him. Frazier is no yard stick for how Tyson v foreman would go imo. I also think tysons chin was better than joes. By no means a foregone conclusion

 With respect, we have no idea who you are. You could be Blizzy's mom for all we know.

If there's additional sources shedding light on the issue, please post them.

Here's something useful from Foreman himself:

"FOREMAN: There were a couple of times, serious negotiations were going on with the Mike Tyson fight. Mike Tyson just didn’t want to fight me. Not to say he couldn’t have beaten me. I mean, this guy could punch. The bigger they are the harder they’d fall as far as Mike Tyson was concerned. I guess that I have a feeling, his first original trainer and manager, Cus D’Amato, must have told him about George Foreman’s punching power as though I would never comeback. So sometimes when you come back and a guy remembers those stories, he says to himself, ‘Look, leave that guy alone’. But I don’t think I would have been that much problems to him. I had a good left jab and I’d always do better when guys come to me, but Tyson was pretty smart with his footwork and hand speed. That would have been a tough fight for me."

Well who the f*ck are you? Additional sources? What exactly is your main source but a second hand account of a guy who claims to have heard Tyson tell Don King this and that? Monte Cox and Frank Lotierzo are biased writers who have never talked with the people they mention in their piece. They're Tyson haters writing a hack piece of journalism. And YOU use that as evidence? How old are you anyways?

Talk to Steve Lott on facebook. Add him. Then ask him the same shat to get an answer from a source, whether you think it's a reliable one or not. Talk to a live person who was with Tyson when Cus was still alive.
