    - Joseph Parker
    - Andy Ruiz
    - Carlos Takam
    - Bryant Jennings
    - Pulev

@reznick , @BitPlayerVesti , @klompton2 , @cross_trainer and I were discussing this down at our local Boston tavern over a game of dominoes.

In another universe, the Giant Carnera is transported in time to the current era to take on the aforementioned five fighters ala George Foreman. Does he manage to go through all these contenders? 3 rounds per fight just like Foreman's task.

We came to the following conclusion:

Carnera intimidates Parker in the stare off. Carnera senses the fear and quickly goes after Parker. He's roughing him up on the inside, using elbows to bring about openings for his powerful uppercut. A real lost art in today's era. Parker can't handle the heat thus takes a knee in the 2nd round and is counted out.

Ruiz & Takam is a quite boring affair as the Giant decides to just use his 105 inch reach & blistering foot speed to pick both fighters off at distance. Carnera wins both 3-0.

Jennings is the first fighter to come up past the giant's chest. Carnera goes out to prove a point and stops Jennings in the 1st round with a clubbing overhand right to the temple.

Primo has done well to keep his gas tank in check when it comes to the final fight. But like the Ruiz & Takam fight, Primo wins a comfortable decision as he uses his much faster and stronger jab to cruise past Pulev. Pulev appears happy just to go the distance and is thankful that it's only 3 rounds. Boring but effective from Primo.

    Thoughts?

Parker and Takam would have toye with Carnera! Parker`s jab is way faster than Carnera`s was, no way could Primo go the distance with AJ, who`s taller than he was and on another level altogether!

    Filthy modernist!

Not only is Carnera's jab quicker than Parker's, it is substantially stronger.

Dillian Whyte rocked AJ! The giant could beat AJ anyway he chooses. He could win a wide decision by using his superior footwork and reach to pick off the lumbering Joshua. Or he could come toe-2-toe and I'm pretty sure AJ doesn't have the chin to stand up to Carnera's devastating uppercuts on the inside.

Watch this from 36 seconds. Look at the incredible flexibility followed up by the blistering speed. Bearing in mind, he is 7ft 1. Parker faster? Cmon.

This is a better example. Shadow boxing is a lost art in today's era. And to this day, I've never seen a fighter more impressive shadow boxing than that of Primo Carnera. Harry Greb runs him close with his Tasmanian devil style but look at the torque that Carnera is putting into these punches. You can tell he is in full control of his shots, placing perfect tension on the limbs as fires away. Can you imagine if he fell into the hands of a Philadelphia Jack O'Brien? Scary, isn't it?

Skip to 30 secs and let me know what you think. I'm not sure AJ could stand up to those blows.

To think that Carnera, at his size, was able to dominate before these Euro-oafs lowered the standard of competition. Must’ve been quite the specimen.

I'm not sure that is entirely accurate. Primo Carnera could possibly qualify as an extraterrestrial. I find it impossible to believe that a man of that size can have the footwork of Benny Leonard, the pivots of Willie Pep, the energy of Hurricane Harry Greb and the blistering hand speed of a James J Corbett.

So you wanna play & see who takes you seriously.
    One thing Carnera WAS-immensely strong.
Steroids were not even invented until 1936.
Without modern training, nutrition, even legitimate supplements he carried the muscle mass of about the biggest SHWs.

And given reports about the dumbbells he lifted-he was also a curcus strongman-he may have been stronger than them all.

Though a world beater as a fighter? No.

    Old timers were shadow boxing.
Those punches were fast as lightning.
In fact it was a little bit frightening.
But they fought with expert timing.

    How so, Janitor?

For Primo to win, or for Ruiz, Takam and Pulev to last the distance with the Giant?

Thoughts on this now that hindsight has been rather kind to Andy Ruiz?

Does the giant still breeze through or is an upset on the cards?
