If weight is the be all and end all, There's no proof qawi could even beat a fighter with a winning record over 194 where as Cokkell at least beat 24-3 former Olympic medalist, south African champ Johnny Arthur who was a modern sized heavyweight of 226. Arthur beat Bob Dunlap and went the distance with pastrano and Chuvalo. There's no good big men that level on qawis win list.

Lastarza beat Brion and Layne. He was proven at the weight too.

Lastarza was a carefully managed boxer who did not merit a title shot, he got one off the back of their first fight because many thought he had been robbed of the verdict. Brion had been beaten that same year by Bernie Reynolds and Verne Mitchell.
Layne had been brutalized by Marciano and was diminished as a contender. The 190lbs Qawi who kod LeonSpinks and lost a split decision to Holyfield would beat the **** out of Lastarza and C*ckell

I wasn't suggesting what you think I was, and apologies for the lack of clarity. I guess I was trying to ask "Could any decent, small swarmer have beaten Rocky's challenger's?". It wasn't a dig at Marciano; in fact I think he gets a hard time on here.

Do you mean Marciano or are you referring to someone else?

Its certainly not out of the question. Even in his vastly deteriorated state he was still beating respectable heavyweight fringe contenders and was somewhat competitive for a while against a prime Marciano.

Thank you for clarifying. :good no I was not suggesting that you think your question "could qawi beat marcianos challengers?" translates into a thinly disguised "a modern cruiser like Qawi could achieve what Rocky did against a small, old and lame era" because it is a fair question you ask in the title.

However, there is evidence within this thread that the translation I talk of is a very firm belief among many here.
