After loseing to Holyfield in their second fight Riddick Bowe never got a chance to fight for the WBC, WBA, or IBF heaveyweight tittles. While he did win the WBO tittle. Could he have beaten any of the other tittle holders from November of 93 when he lost to Holyfield up to Novemner of 95 when he won the third match with Holyfield. I'm not including 96 when he fought Golota. I think he may have peaked with the last Holyfield fight. The tittle holders during this time were IBF Evander Holyfield Michael Moorer George Foreman WBA Evander Holyfield Michael Moorer George Foreman Bruce Seldon WBC Oliver McCall Frank Bruno I don't see anyone there that he couldn't beat. I think Holyfield woh ha a win over him would be the toughest match up and I can see Moorer on a good day giving Bowe some trubble.
I agree with you. I think Bowe would have pulverized George Foreman, outboxed Oliver McCall, and knocked out Frank Bruno. A Holyfield fight would have been a tough one, and Michael Moorer might have been a tough fight for Bowe.
Riddick Bowe was considered to be the best heavyweight in the world by most people at that time, and those titles became rapidly devalued when Foreman got a gift against Schulz, and gave up his other title for Tucker and Seldon to contest. But Bowe declined rather rapidly too. He would have beaten the Holyfield that lost to Moorer. And you'd have to favour him above the others too.
Lennox Lewis should be on the list, he was WBC champion within this time frame. People tell me he looked shabby against Phil Jackson, and we all know what happened against McCall, so I'd probably favour Bowe against him. Bowe and Lewis were actually set to meet after Lewis-McCall if Lewis had won.
