He's gone from an average domestic level boxer, granted he did give BJS a tough fight early in his career but aside from that stopped by Blackwell, beat by Arnfield and other British level fighters like Fielding. Now suddenly a world beater robbed by Callum Smith and beating Danny Jacobs. Benn has beat caught, Felix Cash has looked very flat and been inactive since that. If this is the case I'm expecting a clean Ryder not to risk his biggest pay day and get banged out early.
He had a razor edge fight against Jacobs who is an inconsistent performer, and drowned Zach Parker in experience he amassed through his career. I think he is simply an experienced craftsman who got his title shot through grit and determination.
I thought he lost v Smith after a bright start and Jacobs has been fairly poor since Golovkin.l and he squeaked by. So know I think he's done well against 2 decent opponents and is 1 and 1. If he destroys Canelo people will start thinking somethings amiss but nah. He's a solid fighter and that's about it.
Fair play I respect Ryder and love to see Cinderella man stories and Rocky stories. Fighters like Benn make you question everything.
Wouldn't want to accuse him for something like that but it did make me think about the connection due to seeing a photo with Benn while training for Canelo as of today.
Literally no one had Arnfield winning on here. It was one of the worst robberies of 2016, he was also robbed of a win over Fielding. It was close, but Ryder should've gotten the nod 115-113 or 116-112. Also, he was relatively new at 168 and had never faced a guy that large or with that much punching power, so he was a bit cautious. The stoppage against Blackwell was ridiculous, another Howard Foster special. As far as the win he was robbed of against Callum Smith, I predicted that, precisely due to how much of a beast he'd been in his 4 previous matches. He destroyed Nielsen and Cox, both decent comp, and took to 0's of quality operators like Sirotkin and Akkawy. So I doubt this has anything to do with PED's, he's been in Beast Mode since late 2015.
Ryder is a very tough individual who can fight. I don’t think he has changed any over the course of his career. He has a nearly insurmountable task against Clenelo in Mexico. I hope he performs well.
Ryder's improvements have been gradual as opposed to "suddenly" as you put it. You'd know that if you'd followed his career. He struggled at 160 with making weight and took a while to adjust to 168. He's always been a solid , capable if not Elite performer.
This. The only man to actually beat him was Saunders. He's had a road warriors career at home. Robbed blind multiple times by bigger names.
