For a little while people were actually praising this guy quite a bit when he beat Brewster, but it seems like he has all but fallen off the map due to the Briggs loss. But nevertheless I think it was more or less just a bad night for Lyakhovich, after all.. god knows Wladimir has had his share of bad nights. Lyakhovich also still holds some decent rank for some title shots, I believe he's actually ranked number 2 by the WBA. The loss to Briggs doesn't change that he still has good skills, and I think he would be dangerous to any of the current title holders. He's big, he's quick-handed, his punches have good snap, he has good movement, he's got reasonable power, and he takes a punch pretty good.

Quite frankly I don't think it's out of the question that he'd be able to beat any of the following fighters..

    Valuev
    Ibragimov
    McCall
    Brock
    Chagaev

The only question marks are Wladimir and Peter. I'm not so sure about Peter because Lyakhovich has a tendency to mix it up, and I don't know if mixing it up with Peter would be such a great idea, but you never know.

It's hard to say he's sitting on the sidelines watching the train go by. He's inactivity is his problem

True, but how does the Lyakhovich who beat Brewster do in the heavyweight picture right now, in your opinion?

 so true. I thought i saw his picture on the side of milk carton a couple days ago.

Talent is clearly there, but his work ethic seems like a major problem.

That's true and a bit sad at the same time. I think his ego took the biggest shot that night vs. Briggs.

I think he has a decent shot vs. any of the champs, maybe not vs. Wlad though.

He's also a real good inside fighter, that was a lot of the problem in his fight with Shannon. He took a monster shot early and he then tried to stay out of range and fight from a distance with a larger opponent that's a good counterpuncher. He effectively took away one of his own biggest weapons in that fight.

Yeah, it's kind've a shame that he's wasting the talent he has. And he does indeed have talent to still make another mark in the division.

it's hard to say because you can't judge him from the Briggs fight because fighting Briggs is a different fight.I think he can give anybody trouble, it would be nice to see him back in the ring again to better judge him but until he comes out of his cave I dunno. Hell he could be reired for all we know

It is a shame since he was one of the better inside fighters at HW in a while.

Do you think his inside game was enough to possibly take Wladimir, or Peter?? In regards to Wlad, Lyakhovich has a lot of advantages similar to Sanders.. he's quick, I believe he's the same height as Sanders, I'm not so sure he's as powerful, though. Another difference is he has more movement than Sanders.

His inside game is far superior to Wlad's, but that's why Wlad fights on the outside.

He beat Guinn on the inside and Guinn is really good up close too. He beat Brewster on the inside & that's where Brew usually shines.

I don't think Sergei is as powerful as Peter, Wlad or Briggs but his power is up there and you're right, he's a good mover most of the time. He starts fights using movement & more defense but usually ends up fighting in close in a brawl by the end of the fight.

I dont think Liakhovich follows instuctions from his trainer. Remember his trainer threating to hit him with the stool , if he didnt start listening against Brewster.Basically , I think Liakhovich doesnt have a strong work ethic and is stubborn, he only fights the way he wants and wont listen to instructions that he needs.
