I am amazed that so many good fighters come from Cuba and Puerto Rico considering the populations of those countries compared to others:

    United States 313,442,000

    Mexico 112,336,538

    Phillipines 92,337,852

    United Kingdom 62,262,000

    Venezuela 27,150,095

    Cuba 11,241,161

    Puerto Rico 3,725,789

New York City Metro Area 18,897,109

In fact, the New York City Metro Arear is larger than Cuba and Puerto Rico combined.

Well they are definitely the best amateurs out there. They are very good technical fighters.

However they are unproven in the Professional ranks. The only one that has managed to impress every time out is Gamboa. The others like Despaigne, Rigendeux, and Lara have struggled when they have faced elite opposition. So like the OP said their potential seems great but we can't go just by that. Otherwise Judah would be the GOAT.

I enjoy the Cuban style most of the time. There is times though that it can be frustrating as it is a more patient style and if the opponent is also patient they are known to sit back too much and settle for a uneventful decision win.

Maybe we should make a list of the top Cuban fighters at the moment as I am just blank when I think about it at the moment.

why would you want to even go there.

That would be like comparing Brazils soccer achievements with Honduras.

Just not even on the same level. Can we actually have a serious conversation about this or does it always have to turn into a high school girl type of blog?
