Just because a fighter has a low ko percentage doesn't mean he can't punch. For instance George Chuvalo named Mel Turnbow as one of the hardest punchers he ever fought, and
Turnbow had a very low ko record.

"Chuvalo said..." Chuvalo was a sore loser, and it is normal for him to praise the guy he beat.

Ezzard Charles could punch okay, but was not hard puncher by any means.

No no no ! George Chuvalo was a very honourable man and if he said something he meant it.
Honestly, you need to look at some footage of Ezzard Charles. That man could really punch if he
    had to.

Not anything you said is true. Perhaps Chuvalo never praised any of his opponents, except maybe Ali and Frazier. He had an excuse for every loss and was known as a sore loser.

Charles could never punch; he was not known as a puncher, but more like a boxer. He was not a feather fisted, but he was not a good puncher either.

Comfortably at his peak, though Schmleing is a worrisome matchup as are Baer, Pastor, Farr, Conn are quite dangerous if Liston peaks as late in this timeline as he did IRL.

Sir, if Charles was not feather-fisted then he was good puncher !

Aha,but as I've already said a low KO percentage doesn't automatically mean a lack of punching power.

I've seen a couple of fights where he perspired heavily and yet the opponent still lasted until the final bell.

    There's no way he's a puncher.

Name me a good puncher with a low KO percentage, if you can.

The big hitting Ike Williams had a 39% KO percentage.

    Ike Williams big hitting?

He was good finisher not a hard puncher and was known for 1-2 combo, but not a great puncher.

Plus he never beat anyone good except Gavilan.
