I see two scenarios here.. It's a fight I hate. My favourite fighter ever in Benn v IMO the best ever in SRL. Both scenarios start with Benn feeling he has no chance on the cards and throwing loads of leather similar to the Barkley fight. Ending 1, something lands early from Benn he smothers Ray throwing loads of wild punches lots missing some landing but looking very dangerous with SRL in some trouble and gets an early stoppage very controversially similar to Calzaghe v Manfredo Ending 2 see Benn v Watson or Eubank
I've got the first one. When Benn thought he was up against it, we saw him at his best. He'd feel that way here imo. He'd quickly go on the attack, taking Sugars best shots and firing back. The sort of shots that put him down from Hearn s, would appear here. An hurt Ray, down a few times by the fifth, ends up getting stopped by his corner.
i think Nigel is too physical for him. if he really goes after him, Sugar might not be able to hold him off. I favor Nigel
Lalonde was forced to weigh no more than 165 lbs by contract. He was 167 on fight night, while SRL was 165. The dehidration affected Lalonde. Also, IMO Lalonde did not hit as hard like Benn, who could string together some nice combos.
I had a bet with a work pal, on the Leonard v Lalonde ft. He said twenty quid Donny win s cos he's the bigger man. I had doubts going in to the fight when Sugar got knocked down. But luckily for me, Ray pulled thru.
Think some people need to realise that the version of SRL we seen at SMW wasn't peak SRL, he was very much past it and on his way out. He gets taken out by Nigel Benn who was a ferocious puncher.
