Could Sturm make more money vs. Sylvester than Pavlik in a possible fight v. Abraham?

Inspired by the thoughts of one of ESB's user, Deslizer, this could be very likely.

Remember when Klitschko vs. Peter was set for a purse bid and all of a sudden Ahmet "The Devilfish" Öner joined the party with a 9 mio bankroll and the purse bid was off as Duva and K2 came to an agreement without any hesitation?

It could be the same situation here and given the weak US Dollar, Sturm could make about 3 mio Euro (about $4.5 mio IMO) vs. Sylvester in an all-German and high-anticipated showdown before a
national TV audience of about 8 mio viewers on TV only in Germany.

So what are your thoughts about this?

I just watched Sturm's last fight. Not impressed with either participant. Not sure what Griffin thought he was accomplishing with the flurries on the gloves. Didn't Sturm already turn down a nice payday offered by Abraham?

Tom -- I don't mean to be disrespectful, but my thoughts about this are that I don't give a ****. There are 2 fights that matter at 160. Pavlik/wright and Pavlik/Abraham. Sturm isn't even in the mix. He did say that he wants to fight Pavlik after Sylvester, but that would be a short and brutal exectution that would ruin Sturm.

Yeah, as crazy as it is, you're right. Nobody cares about Abraham outside of Germany and I don't even know if Pavlik-Abraham would do well in Las Vegas. Sylvester-Sturm is a fight between two B- levels, yet Sturm could probably earn more money than Pavlik would fighting Abraham. The only way Pavlik would earn more money is if he got a cut from the German TV sales or something like that.

Would you really complain about a Pavlik/Sturm fight? Brutal execution as it may be, it would be a good ****ing scalp for Kelly. Especially if he has beaten Abraham and maybe even Wright by then.

Sturm vs. Sylvester is set to go to a purse bid and neither promotion will sell their guy for cheap especially when you keep in mind that Öner could come out of nowhere with a big check...it's not about the level of both boxers here but more about German media and promotion.

If Öner would get the call with lots of money, the fight goes to commercial TV (RTL, the channel that airs the Klitschko bros bouts in Germany) and might very well get a rating of about 10 mio viewers in Germany...

This is also a sign of how boxing in other countries can rival America for moeny making. The balance is shifting.

If Top Rank is serious about Pavlik Vs. Abraham...
Then they need to have them fight on the same card until
the fight between them can be made.
(Just like they did with Cotto & Maragrito)

    As far as Sturm...not interested

Zuniga, McKart, Taylor, Wright, Abraham, and Sturm: that would put 6 current and former "world titlists" on Pavlik's resume', and hey, if you're gonna count Sturm as a legit titlist, I get to count zuniga for his IBO trinket (especially considering zuniga would beat 7 shades of **** out of Sturm.)

i think pavlik v sturm will happen in the next 18 months, pavlik wants the 4 belts and sturm holds one, zuniga etc with meaningless belts will have to be mandatories of the 4 'better respected' belts

Sturm a b-level fighter>? Nah!!! He wont beat neither Pavlik nor AA,but he can be competitive against any other fighter at middle weight.
Nobody cares about AA outside Germany(and Armenia of course:D)?? Well, the same can be said about Pavlik. Who has ever heard his name outside the USA?
Therefore their fight will either take place in Germany or the USA. It all depends on the sum of money each fighter will earn by facing each other in the ring. Pro boxing is big in Germany-huge paychecks can be earned there. If HBO isnt ready to pay big bucks to stage Pavlik vs AA German tv will probably be ready to spend big money to stage this fight in Germany.

Abraham was being talked about for TWO years after the Miranda fight. ALL of boxing was talking about Abrahams controversial win in Germany and how he needs to take care of business in the states. He does what ALL boxing fans and writers were NOT expecting him to do(face someone that broke his jaw and KTFO miranda) and "nobody cares" outside of Germany?:patsch Dude actually after aa miranda 2, EVERYBODY that has any little insight on boxing would DEFINITELY want to see abraham vs ANYONE!:good

You don't make sense at all!:bart
