On the 5 title front, i don't think SRL ever really got any credit for it. Even back in the day it wasn't that big because the Super Middle division was relatively fresh and had not been taken seriously whatsoever.

 

I think so but you cant go by what he says. SRL and the press have always been in bed with each other

 

Ray Leonard from 1979 to 1982 proved to me that his skills, conditioning and reflexes between 147 to 154 pounds, that he was at least # 8 or so on the head-to-head ATG list of pound-4-pounders....... YES!

Tommy didnt have the defense skill set Norris had nor did he have the stamina. Tommy didnt know when or even how to hold the way norris did, hands dangling low at the waist. Notice how Terry holds his hands up high?

Tommy just wasnt the complete championship fighter that Terry was and had too many holes in his defense.

TH also lacked the offensive versatility of a Terry Norris that had Ray confused throughout. Terry has so many weapons that it must have been difficult for him to decide which moves to make but everything pretty much worked to perfection as he had an easy time with Ray as well as with Taylor, Mugabi, Brown in the rematch, Curry and pretty much everyone else.

Thomas didnt have the uppercut that Terry used so successfully on RL, the one he used in round three when he nearly decapitated him and intimidated him for the rest of the fight. it was so easy! Too many guns, too good on defense and too fast on his feet

 

You mean like his defense against Julian Jackson? I really like Norris,but Hearns would have stretched him out badly,you are a funny guy how can you discredit SRL wins like your doing? And i'm huge Nunn fan to,but for to think these 2 dudes are as good as Leonard and Hearns you have to be smoking something.lol:-rasta:yikes

Against someone like SRL, he never had a chance becuz Sugar Ray just dont punch hard enough. Sugar hits good when it come to Dave Greens of this world but against my man TN, he will just be shooting blanks. Did you notice how Sugar caught Terry at the end of round 11 with 7 consecutive hard shots-right on the button, and my man did not even blink?? and the only reason it happened to begin with is becuz Terry let his guard down knowing he had it "in the bag" :smoke

vs hearns I see Tommy having problems on account of Tommy's suspect chin and Terry's awe inspiring speed and all around mobility. I dont know T-bomb, I see this as a pick 'em fight

Nunn also impressed me with his showing in the Kalambay fight. talk about rising to the occasion. Mike snuffed out his nearest competitor so quickly and so convincingly. I think Ray Leonard took one look at it from ringside and immediately thought "give me Roberto Duran!"

yeah, i dont think Ray wanted any part of Mike. I seriously think he felt threatened by Mike becuz Mike is slick, Mike is quick, and Ray knows that Mike's punches would make Ray Leonard sick

 

I asked Mike McCallum instead, and he said you just need a top chin combined with some genuine ability.

What happened to the great Norris against Brown (average hitter), Mullings, Rosenblatt and Boudouani?

Lets be honest, virtually anyone punches hard enough to potentially ko Norris.

If SRL anywhere near his best hit Norris with several hard shots he'd likely stop him multiple times. When you have a chin like Terrys, you never have it in the bag until the final bell is safely negotiated

Not sure why your allegation of Hearns suss chin and Terry's speed would give Terry problems, but you never were the smartest kitten in the litter :huh

Nunn impresses you most because Leonard didn't actually fight him so you can accuse him of ducking and give yourself all sorts of thrills fantacising about Nunn winning.

If SRL did fight and beat Nunn you'd be here telling us he was shyte and never impressed

If Nunn could have kept impressing like he did against Sumbu he would have snagged one of the big names and if he won that would have snagged some more. He didnt so as it was he ended up a fair size risk for small money so snagged no-one. SRL started to build the fight up, putting his finger in Nunns face at a nightclub after Nunn beat Sumbu and telling him he was going to fukk up his life. After that great win Nunn looked ordinary vs Barkely and just as boring vs Starling.

 

I like you.lol now thats out of the way,Hearns chin is vastly underrated,he took great shots from Hagler,Barkley,and Leonard,and his chin was better than Norris's by a pretty good ways,but yeah Jackson would have KOd anyone with that shot,and he can KO anyone.lol Norris and Hearns is a interresting matchup,Hearns has seen speed like Norris in a Prime SRL,not the version Norris fought,and Hearns boxed his eye out,he was faster than SRL foot and hand,the question would be what would Norris be able to do with that how would he be able to adjust to not having any of those advantages,see thats what made Ray special he found a way,even though Norris hits harder than SRL who is no powerder puff puncher,thats where Norris will fall short.

Totally agree about Nunn,he was a amzazing physical talent,its a shame Toney ruined him i was sick about that,Micheal was destinedfor super great things until that happened,and Kalambay was a amzing boxing machine himself what he did to him was up there with 1 of the greatest performances ever.:good

Coming off 11 yrs with NO LOSSES and 5 titles means you're not at your best? he had his chance and couldnt make a dent in Terry's chin
