    People like to be revisionists and play down accomplishments. Lots of black Americans soured on Bud after he beat Spence. Plus Spence was tied to PBC/Haymon who was tied to Floyd. So Bud beating all of PBC and not joining PBC was - for unknown reasons - offensive to them.

    Bud was the deal the entire time
