What hurts bruno the most was that he really didn't have any signature wins.. He had a bunch of signature fights vs tyson, lennox, witherspoon,, but never asignature win besides outpointingmccall.That shows that his punching power is not special!

Baer never beats Liston

 

Do you realise how green Liston was against Marty Marshall he was a novice learning as he went who then proceeded to dominate him on two other occasions, as for the Machen bouts he ran the entire fight and I'm pretty sure Liston won pretty much every round?

Ali call is fair, bar the phantom punch fight and Leotis beat the oldest form of Liston after a close fight and had to retire from boxing due to his injuries.

 

Liston does him with the jab over and over again because of baer's sloppy punches, he will be getting hit often with mainly straight punches he would pick him apart with the jab until the stoppage

 

Looks a little high. Change parameters to: Two right hands, two left feet, head movement - 3, jab lvl - 4 and downgrade power to a realistic level. Should prob. fix it.

Do you realise that Marshal was bum and LHW and ****ing journeyman!He was small and old fighter!He was 36 years old past his prime and LHw and still broke Liston jaw!Liston beat him ony points when man was even older!He still couldn't beat him!Machen didn't ran and he wobbled Liston!He won 4 rounds and outwrestle Liston who couldn't overpower him!Machen wanted second fight but Liston turned it down and Machen was knocked by Ingemar and beat by Patterson!
There wasn't phantom punch it is just a legend!In slow motion you can see knockout and Liston head when Ali caught him fast and hardest he could with sharp punch!Everyone who saw slow motion could see that KO was real!And Ali beat him in previous bout!
Letois maybe beat oldest Liston but Leotis didn't even worked out because he killed a man!Liston was so old that beat Wepner next fight!
Leotis beat Liston in sparing in early 60s!
And Leotis when fought Liston wasn't same fighter because he killed a man!
He lacked training and wanted to fight Frazier so much because he was in his shadow!
Letois retired not because injuries but because mental problems!

 

Baer's problem, is that even if he managed perfect preparation and dedication in this fight, Liston still holds the stylistic advantage.

 

I think Max Baer is the wrong kind of fighter for Sonny Liston, but likewise, Sonny Liston can be the wrong kind of fighter for Max Baer too.

When you watch Joe Louis break Max Baer down with the jab, it is impossible to imagine Max faring much better against Sonny.

And yet Max still managed to land his dynamite right hand against even Joe Louis.

Against Louis, When Max fired over his long right hand Louis had the wherewithal to fire back with unusual precision and speed that Sonny did not possess. And that’s all that saved joe Louis. That response literally won Louis the fight. Max lost interest after that.

Max had a very long right hand with all the power was right in the end of it. The perfect antidote for a big jabber like Liston who was easily solidly hit with right hands. Whitehurst, Ali and Leotis Martin all seemed to stun Sonny with them. I can’t help thinking what they might have done using Max Baer like power when they landed their right hands on Sonny’s chin.

And equally I can’t help thinking how discouraged Max might become being hit by Sonny’s jabs.
