Could the first round of Mayweather vs Pacquaio be like Hagler vs Hearns?

Round 1 will be mostly feeling out. Floyd will throw maybe 10 punches, mostly jabs. Pac will bounce around, feint, throw one or two quick flurries to get the crowd going.

Pac may come at Mayweather hard in the first round to set the tone of the fight but Mayweather is not going to get in a fire fight with Pac unless he hurts Pac and thinks he can take him out.

 

Heck you never know. Floyd fights for the fans nowadays, and Pacquiao thinks if you move backwards for more than a few steps you lose.

The only thing Floyd has in common with either of them is his pigmentation.

 

No the first round will probably be slow with some jabs and feinting. unless Roach tries to get Manny to go all out like Maidana in which case there may be a KD but then Floyd will dtart taking over after the 5th

 

Maybe more like James Toney vs Iran Barkley RD1. With Pacquaio trying to take Floyd's head off and Floyd bob-n-weaving while throwing precise counters.

But I doubt that as well.

 

No way. It would require both guys to willingly engage for all 3 minutes of the round. floyds a defensive fighter who likes to adjust to the style that will benefit him against his opposition. He usually takes 2-3 rounds just to figure out whats the best plan of attack.

And manny just won't throw caution to the wind from the 1st second of the first round, he's going up against the best technical fighter and counterpuncher in the game. I Think the first round will be a feel 'em out round for both guys.
