I think KP hit it just right when he said "Mora is Rubio without the power." Mora and Rubio are at about the same level. The idea that Mora is some kind of cagey slickster is an internet myth. He tries to use a slick style, but he simply does not have the skills to do it at world class level. KP has already beat several guys with a variety of styles that I would pick to beat Mora. The Latin Fake is not as fast as Taylor. He is not as strong as Miranda, nor does he hit as hard. He's not as smart or experienced as McKart. He does not have the amature background of Zertuche. Et, et. Anytime Mora tries to open up he is going to get absolutely battered. If he just tries to run all night, eventually KP will catch him and put his lights out. Either that or he'll take the Zuniga-Rubio route and quit on his stool.
trouble as i see it with this fight is that mora will come to survive and not to win. mora is an average sized light middle fighting a very big middle and mora will fell it in every punch. fighters know when the opponent does not respect them and mora simply has nothing in his armoury that pavlik will and should respect. but i feel it will be a long boring night for kelly unless he is up for the fight. something that might be hard for him to be given the tatics i expect mora to adopt. no chance that kelly will lose the fight IMO but there is a 50% chance that if his mindset is not right the fight will turn out a dull /monotonous fight with mora running and spoiling , doing little and kelly being frustrated and not being able to put him away. i hope kelly comes out fired up from the word go, walks through mora, prepared to take one to give one and breaks mora up quickly with body/arm/in fact hit anything shots to make mora stand his ground and allow kelly to pile up the punches and get him out of there by halfway. not good matchmaking for the fans IMO as the styles will not gell unless mora comes to fight. will mora do this, ? i personally do not think so.
Mora is not "an average sized light middle." He has two fights at 154. So does Pavlik. Does tha make Kelly a light middle? Mora fought in the same division as Pavlik and Taylor in the 2000 olympic trials, he made his professional debut at 160, and Contender Season I was a middleweight tournament. Mora's two best wins at 160 came against guys who now fight at 168+. If he's a light middle based on two fights at 154, then **** it, Pavlik must be a light middle too.atsch
ok jump on me. mora since 2002 has averaged about 155/156 if you average his weight over that 6 /7 year period. as usual fighters at various weights in non title /routine fights 90% of the time come in about 4 lb over there limit. pavlik in the last 6/7 years if you average his weight over that time period would average around 164 only making middle perhaps 4 times in the last 7 years. or about the same ammount of times as mora has fought below the light middle limit. but have it your way, mora is a monster and will physically manhandle pavlik on the inside using his natural middleweight bulk and size to push kelly around.
Cool off Bro! People keep referring to Mora as a light middle, and it just isn't true. I've even read posts on here where people claimed Mora NEVER fought above 154. The guy is a middleweight. **** -- he was ranked top 5 in the division at one time.
And by the way Sean -- I agree with pretty much everything you said except the light middle statement.
exactly...:good people that talk as if mora is gonna get starched in 2 or say there is no way in hell mora can win sound ignorant, this is boxing...anything can happen and mora has just the style to beat him, just depends what mora shows up, cause we all know what kelly is gonna show up
