I mean, we have a lot of potential positives here, assuming everything goes to plan - This content is protected We have Joshua vs Usyk - A massive test for Joshua, will be very interesting to see what happens, and see what Usyk is capable of against top class HW opposition. It will be a massive fight to look forward to. This content is protected Fury vs Wilder 3 - Most people may not like the idea of it initially, but with all that has gone on, I think it it could be the most interesting one yet. Wilder training hard, Fury unpredictable. It could be an upset, another beatdown or a greater fight than we expect. Fury will be have to KO wilder or potentially be robbed on the scorecards again like the first one. This content is protected Then if Fury and AJ win, they should both be cleared to fight each other, both with no excuses like "ring rust" as they've both had a tune up fight before hand, and potentially be better fighters and closer to their prime form. and This content is protected They now both have fire between each other, so this drama makes the undisputed fight potentially a lot more interesting!! They dislike each other - Think about it - Imagine the "gloves are off" episodes now lol It will be interesting. You could argue that if AJ and Fury come through their next fights, they'll both be closer to their prime and on form!
In truth, it's really disappointing that it's a BS fight that doesn't need to happen and noone wants to see that's called it off. If Wilder somehow wins, it's even worse because he'll keep up with the cans until he retires and there will not be a unification fight until he's gone. Having said that... It's the undisputed people would be missing, not the AJ-Fury all-brit angle - that only became a thing one Fury beat Wilder because we want to see the best fight the best and unification fights have that aura about them. If Usyk beats AJ and Fury embarrasses Wilder a third time, it'll be Usyk-Fury everyone wants to see (pending rematches)... Just how things go. Usyk against Joshua is an interesting fight and should at least be an interesting watch... Fury against Wilder again just isn't interesting at this point.
It's hard to say postponing the biggest HW fight in many years is a good thing, but maybe the carrot and stick dynamic created by the big fight and the contract/mandatory situation was the only way to get all these done (if they do get done). If there's an upset this summer, it will be a very interesting question whether you do the undisputed fight or press ahead with the Battle of Britain without all the belts. I'd prefer the undisputed fight, the winners of the two summer fights will have earned it and the ultimate winner would have credibility as undisputed champion. It would be a good moment for boxing.
Providing both win in the intervening fights, it might be a good thing. Since the cancellation of the mega fight, lots of bad blood has been between the two fighters. It would be a much more entertaining build up now if a fight was arranged for December. I still wish it was in August though!
