Could the WBA go?

Be unfair on the likes of Bivol to lose their only belt but I’m all for it.

 

The WBA has in recent years been one of the most terrible federations. Glad if it shuts down.

 

It's hardly a revelation that We Be Atrocious is on the take.

The dream would be all the belts get cancelled and they just go by the Ring belt, with a proper ranking system in place like the UFC meaning 1 always has to defend his belt against number 2, and if for some reason 1 can’t fight then 2 faces 3 for the interim belt and the winner is guaranteed a shot at the champion.

 

Bribes for rankings.....why? They have intercontinental, silver, continental, European etc for that already.

 

It would take the boxers to demand that, for it to stick.

Ultimately if the boxers formed their own union they could force whatever change they want; they could switch sanctioning fees to their own body and govern the sport themselves, and probably be better off. Promoters in their ears will make sure it never happens. The current fashion for winning a belt after a routine ladder-climbing fight doesn't help either.

 

Also - I was thinking the WBA had been through this before, but it was the IBF - various promoters admitted to paying to get fights sanctioned or mandated... but then since the IBF was borne of the USBA not getting its candidate elected onto the WBA, they're all inter-linked in the first place.

They are all bad but the WBA have been the worst in recent times imo.Happy to strip certain fighters yet let others hold belts for years without fighting(Santa Cruz)allowing Tank Davis to do whatever he wants Willy nilly.they’ve got worse since aligning themselves with PBC fighters.
