I'm wondering ... No matter who wins between Margarito v Mosley ... if they fight Cotto next (and Cotto is WBO champion) then ...

Clottey some how unifies titles with Berto/Collazo winner ... and have the winner fight the winner of Cotto v Margarito/Mosley ... then we would have an undisputed welterweight champion again.

It can happen, but lets do it ROUND ROBIN TOURNAMENT style, and lets get the Organizations involved. Lets let the WBA and the WBC, IBF, WBO, ect KNOW that we are looking to unify and have one World Champion, not a number of Titleholders. Don was able to do it, in the early Millenium, with Keith Holmes, Joppy, Hops, and Trinidad, Oscar and Sturm. When all was said and done, Hopkins was UNDISPUTED.

yeah it really could happen unless Cotto beats Margarito then expect for that winner fighting the winner of Berto-Clottey there will be Cotto-Margarito III in the fall

The orgs have actually made several rule changes over the years to make unification easier. The WBC is even talking about the 4 orgs getting together and creating one super belt(in addition to the other belts of course).

Does it really matter? Granted it would be nice to have somone holding the three belts but how long would it actually last? Not long if past experience is anything to go by. As long as good fights get made at 147 then that's all that matters to me.

The answer is a clear no, Arum won't let it. There was the chance for Cotto to return vs. Clottey (IBF), for Margarito to fight Williams (WBA+WBO), instead Arum's plan is to go on with the rematch for a single title (or two as luckily for Arum, Williams vacated the WBO, so Cotto can pick up the title in a mismatch), but they'll avoid Clottey and I see Team Berto having an easy 2009. That was the whole point of signing Clottey: having him in his stable, Arum can keep him away from the cash cows a lot more easily. Smart thinking.

The messed up thing is is that the loser of Margarito/Cotto II will fight Clottey --

Another messed up thing is if Mosely upset's Margo he will not get to fight Cotto, we'll have to see Marg/Cotto II which would keep fragmentating the titles instead of unifying them, but would at least provide us with some good fireworks

I doubt it. DiBella's not going to let Berto fight Cotto or Margarito. The only way it happens is if Clottey beats the Cotto-Margarito winner, Williams stays at 154 permanently (which I'm not convinced of) and Berto fights Clottey to become undisputed. That sounds remote, to say the least.
