I think he is too small and would be at a size disadvantage, for me the 168 pound division has always been a refuge for guys without the balls to be at 175.

Light Heavy is a legitimate weight class and one of the original 8. Almost every top 168 pounder is a big guy 6ft or taller who should rightfully be at 175 or higher these next day weigh ins actually let cruiser weights boil down and compete at 168.

Triple GGG seems like a 154-160 pounder and kind of light in the ass vs a legitimate big strong 175 lb fighter. I could be wrong of course. anyone have any additional thoughts or opinions?

I think GGG has said that he can make 154. He would be very outsized at 168. He weighs 170 or under in the ring at mw so he would probably give up at least 10 lbs to whoever he fights at smw. I think he can still beat a lot of guys but lose to the elite.

I expect the GGG train to run into its roadblocks when GGG moves up. Some fighters look beasts on guys they overpower, but Im just not sure how G wins against guys he cant overpower. We will see. Im rooting for him though. Personally I think hes too small for 168.

Golovkin's style reminds me of Kostya Tszyu. Good boxing basics but does'nt look all that flexible and fluid to evade the shots of the bigger more athletic guys.
Tszyu made his stay at 140 lbs and stayed there his entire career. The biggest most athletic body Tszyu ever faced at 140 lbs put a beatdown on him. (Vince Phillips)

I to think Golovkin may run into trouble against guys he cant physically manhandle. Time will tell!

I for one don't think he's like Kostya Tzyu at all.......... only did see two Kostya fights though that I can remember.

We have Andre Ward there at super middleweight who's probably not dieing to make a fight with GGG, same with Carl Froch, GGG simply isn't that big of a draw. Difference being that Andre Ward would probably defeat GGG while Carl Froch would lose.

This doesn't seem like the right time to move up.

Now is not the time to move up.why not clean up his own division first. He could compete at 168 but he needs time to work toward that. He could start with Bute and then maybe kessler or froch. He should stay away from ward until he has made all the money he wants to.

GGG could knock out Superman with one punch because his fan boys say so.

Your right he is just to small with those toothpick lets to compete with bigger guys like ward and froch. But at his class and 154 he is going to be hard to beat for anyone. I like watching GGG fight but he is just to small for 168. His small framed body will always be to small. These guys claiming he can beat Ward and Froch don't know much about boxing.

His power, defense, movement, skills would make up for any size disadvantage, but first he needs to clean out the middleweight division.................

Of the current crop at 168, I think he'd certainly have problems stalking someone with lateral movement who could keep him at range with the jab(Oosthuizen), someone with the hand speed and reflexes to counter him at every opportunity and athletic enough to keep from getting cornered(Ward), someone durable enough to take his punches and strong enough to push him backwards(Bika) or someone tough enough to stand his ground and fit enough to make Golovkin work every minute of every round(Froch).

Golovkin's good but styles still make fights and 168 is pretty deep right now. There are some guys who could make Golovkin really uncomfortable.

Ward is not a big guy at all. Short. Some of the others have nice size, but no one like a Pavlik that is 6'2 with devastating power.

168 pounders are not that big.
