Could Tszyu and his team have called the fight after the 4th round?

It´s a bit nuanced. As a team, they should have done whats best for their boxer, and that would have been to stop the fight as early as possible.
But they also have an obligation to Tzyu and his will, so if Tszy wanted to continue then all they could do was to support him as much as possible.

Did they drop the ball? Yes. Does it really matter? No. Tszyu wanted to fight and he got his fight.

Yes, your are correct. I was responding to another poster that said Tszyu would have lost if he said he could not continue without the doctor saying that the injury was to bad to go on. I know if the cut was caused by a punch he would lose, but not an accidental cut by an elbow or head. I'm not sure how that works.

So, the question on the table is, what would have happened if Tszyu said he couldn't go on after the 4th? Does he lose if the doctor doesn't agree that the cut wasn't bad enough to stop? Usually if a fighter says he can't see, the ref stops it. If the cut was an accidentally elbow or head butt it goes to the cards as you mentioned.

He may have also seriously underestimated his opponent.

Did the cut man also not have the right med? They could not stop the blood at all.

Haha, yes it’s official rule. The only thing I’m not 100% is if the Dr decides to let it go but the fighter says he can’t continue? I’m not sure if they rule that as a loss, win or NC.

They absolutely dropped the ball. It was obvious during the 3rd Tszyu couldn't see and the fight had changed pretty dramatically. Tszyu's first 2 rounds were dominant and the momentum shift was huge.

....but I respect them for not stopping it too. To me, Tszyu hasn't lost any shine plus the highlights will draw a heap of eyeballs.

A guy who takes Fumdora on 12 days isn't a guy who bows out when he can't see. I had Fundora winning but the more impactful shots were Tszyu, who would have likely stopped Fundora without blood pouring down his face all night. Tszyu took a crazy gamble. What if Fumdora was able to finish him. You gotta love this guy for trying. And now everyone is talking about Tszyu . I hope team Tszyu goes for immediate rematch and I hope Fundora gives it to him. Especially when Tszyu took fight on 12 days, sure Fundora did too but the adjustment of him was nothing compared to what it was for Tszyu.

congrats to Fundora but he was getting smoked before the blood.

TSZYU took the L but he won the event, as they say.

The only “med” that’s allowed in the corner is Vaseline and it won’t stop a deep cut like that from bleeding.

Well you are wrong. I just looked it up. In LAs Vegas you are allowed to use:

Legal cut solutions are Aventine, Thrombin, Adrenalin(epinephrine) 1/1000 and Vitaminerals Formula 120 Liquid Concentrate.
Legal hemostatic dressings are Celox, QuikClot, Qwik-AID and Microfibrillar Surgicel. Please remember to make sure that the contestant upon whom any cut solution or hemostatic dressing will be applied is not allergic to that cut solution or hemostatic dressing.
