Shows you how low boxing has fallen if few even care who the heavyweight champion is.

No. Tyson Fury can't discard the alphabet belts. Because most of the world has absolutely no idea who he is. He's made ZERO defenses.

He did the world a favor by knocking off Wlad, now he needs to do the world a favor and make exciting heavyweight fights that people view as classics. (For all the rightful praise he's received for winning the title, the fight with Klitschko was boring as hell.)

When he's a household name, he can do whatever he wants. When his glorious battles are part of heavyweight lore, he can call the shots.

Winning one fight doesn't make him bigger than the sport.

Good idea. Fury should dump all the belts, then Wilder could pick them all up and the u.s. tv networks & Ring magazine can promote him as the "undisputed world heavyweight champion" or something. People will believe it.

bump this thread in late 2016 :deal

looked like Waldo threw the fight to me!!

    rewatched that Dance-Fest twice...

Waldo was doing nothing like Foreman
when he threw the fight against Morrison!!

Waldo vs Fury will be a Trilogy!!! :deal

burning up all of 2016 :deal

both may retire afterward filthy rich!! :yep

if either continue... neither will fight anyone
    else until March/April 2017........

    :deal

    Exactly.

For exhibit A, see Roy Jones at Light Heavyweight.

After all, you don't see Julio Gonzales or Zsolt Erdei on Ring Magazine's list of Lineal World Light Heavyweight Champions.
