With all the threads about Wach being Wlad's next opponent let's compare Wach to Thompson. Can Wach KO Thompson or win on points?

Current Thompson, yes, in the later rounds.

Thompson wins his fights with his long jab and L cross. His defense is solid and his footwork decent.

They matchup fairly well, although I'll say Thompson, even at 40 y/o is the faster of the two fighters, but his power comes from putting his shots together, and we havent seen him be able to do that due to inactivity or maybe age. He was injured in the first Wlad fight, but he still managed to put up a fight, whereas last time out he was essentially picked apart until he caved.

Wach, has a slight edge in power overall, and large edge in one punch power. His combination punching is limited to the 1-2, but we've seen over the past few fights that he's able to put together multiple punch combinations when he's got his opponent squared up defensively. And Thomspon seems to square up more than he should lately.

IMO......If the two met today, Wach WOULD KO Thompson. 4 or five yrs ago though, vs the current Wach.....that would be a pickem.:deal

Interesting. I think Thompson is overrated yet so many folks are saying how bad Wach is.

I think it's mostly K2 haterz inc, and Haye fans condemning Wlad for this fight.

Wach has really put his name out there for almost a dozen in the top 50 for a fight. Only Oquendo tentatively agreed, but it'd have to be in Chicago, on his terms.
Wach is the draw, probably even in Chicago, yet Oquendo wants the higher split. :rofl

Im glad Wach agreed to this fight. The Oquendo fight can wait, and if he looks at all decent against Wladimir, his stock will rise greatly.

And.......considering Potvetkin will lose his WBA kiddie belt in March when he vacates it to fight the Super Champ, Wlad, Wach would be right there in the WBA ranking to fight for that vacate title.

If he picked that one up, or maybe fought for the vacant EBU or EBA titles which Pulev and Ustinov will be letting go of in their attempt at a mandate, he could easily get a solid diet of contenders from across the globe after his step up vs Wlad.:thumbsup

Check out this video, at 3:41 Wlad says Thompson would beat everyone in the top 10 but Vitali and himself.

I'm not sure I agree but yeah I'd favor Thompson to beat Wach. It could be that Wach is better but we have no way of knowing that.

Wlad is always courteous to his opponents, usually gives them too much credit and respect

Thompson is the superior fighter, quite clearly.
