Being massively overhyped and overrated for a long time is, most definitely, a problem - agreed.

Doesn't change that he was a fraud who would always have lost to the more serious fighters in the division and realistically definitely wasn't one of the five best since Wlad.

I guess I must be in the minority, but I think Fury and AJ will fight each other (regardless of which belts, if any, are on the line) before they retire, because I'm fairly confident Turki will pay good money for that fight. And Fury and AJ have both stated multiple times that they fight for money.

If Fury and AJ both win their next fights and have all 4 belts between them (granted, it's a big if), Fury v AJ is almost certain to happen. Even if they don't both win next, there's a very good chance it eventually happens imo.

Wilder would have been amongst the top 5 victories of any fighter in the post Klitschko era.

    He's Fury's best victory
    He's Zhang's best victory
    He's Parkers best victory

He'd have been AJs best victory had they unified.

He was top 5 ranked for about ten years. I agree it's a problem you saying he wasn't top 5 despite the reality of how he was perceived for the whole of that time.

You never know when Fury's involved, but my money would still be on that it happens. So much money and Fury will feel confident he beats AJ. He will absolutely pull his full primadonna repertoire to make it clear that he's the A-side, even though that's already clear to everybody, but in the end he won't walk away from that much money for a fight he believes he will win.

Joshua had 12-13 weeks to prepare, significantly more than a couple of months notice

Fury was a 1/4 favourite at the end of 2022, so a very sizeable favourite

The cattle are easily taken in by charismatic sociopaths like Eddie Hearn and Jimmy Savile unfortunately.

Wilder was ranked either No.1 or No.2 by all major ranking organisations (Ring, TBRB, PBO etc.) after Joshua lost to Ruiz.

@BubblesUK despises Wilder to the point of unobjectivity because of 1. Wilder's nationality 2. Wilder's a terrible excuse for a human being 3. He doesn't like Fury. Which is fine in my opinion but he should be more honest about it.

Even if Fury and AJ fight each other for no belts it would still be a big fight.

I highly doubt Dubois beats Joshua.

Absolutely and if it was for all the belts, all the better.

Of course, he's an underdog. But we will see won't we.

Who believes that to be the case with hindsight though?

In 2019 you had Zhang, Bakole, Parker and Kabayel among others. Given what they have accomplished since Wilder beating them is suddenly not at all certain.

I don't like Wilder very much, but he didn't duck Povetkin. Sasha kinda messed this up himself, failing two drug tests: before the Wilder fight and before the final eliminator with Stiverne.

Sort of... Wilder didn't choose to fight Povetkin and made it clear when he'd been reprieved (by a pretty soft finding, TBH) he made it clear he wanted no part of going back voluntarily (because PEDs cheat - but then was more than happy to fight Fury who took far worse).

In any case, even if you don't want to count it as a duck - I'd still argue both Povetkin and Whyte were better than Wilder all along.

Heck, I'm not even convinced Wilder would've beat Chisora at any point.
