Could Whitaker have stopped Hatton the way Floyd did?

I feel Mayweather was a harder puncher than Pernell and the Hatton KO by Floyd is very underrated, am I a little wrong here? Xplosive please do not respond here thanks.

probably not. I see him winning every round like he did against Haugen and winning a decision.

Maybe, but Hatton would have done better than Haugen, he was a better fighter with a great body attack.

Whitaker would clown Hatton worse than Floyd, and likely win every round. (Something Floyd did not accomplish against Hatton. ) It wasn't really Pernell's style to go for the knockout. But, I think his power was at least as good as Floyd's. He had a one punch KO over Juan Nazario, and his knockout of Hurtado was surprisingly savage. Floyd didn't score a single legitimate knockout (or even knockdown) in the ten year period following the Hatton fight.

Greg Haugen was a more skilled fighter than Hatton. Haugen could box amd was a good counterpuncher. He wasn't there to be hit as often as Ricky Hatton was. Hatton was a mauler.

I personally think Haugen was a better fighter than Hatton. Both were overrated at the time though.

Yes he could stop Hatton that way if he chose to sit down on his punches. He did so against other people. He easily beat Hatton though, and I'm not sure he would lose a round unless he was conserving energy in a round or something.

Hatton would have done worse than Haugen.

Pea would beat the ever living **** outta Ricky. And yes, he very well could stop him. It's not like Hatton was ever durable.

I always try to check myself when I talk about Pea...cause he’s a favorite of mine and my intention really is to be fair.

That said, no way on God’s green earth is this anything but an absolute whitewash. I think Pea’s skill and ring generalship so far surpasses Hatton’s that even a game, in shape Hatton is going back to his corner after the first few rounds scratching his head. And it gets worse for him from there. If he tries to slow Pea down and rough him up on the inside...I think he’ll find that Pernell’s inside game and body work is actually far superior.

If I had money on it I’d bet on a wide UD where Hatton takes a bad beating...but a stoppage is most definitely not outta the question.

Whitaker was physically stronger than Hatton. That alone screws any prayer Hattin might have.

He wouldn't have needed to stop him the way Floyd did, mate.
The scorecards would have been completely incontrovertible, regardless of the referee.

I feel Hatton hit harder than Pernell, if you look at Whitaker`s punches v Pinaeda they weren`t as hard as Hatton`s keeping in mind Hatton`s KO percentage and his vicious body punching ability.

Floyd was dominating Hatton at the time of the stoppage.

At welter? Whitaker didn`t seem that strong and struggled with Gary Jacobs, at the lighter weights Hatton had a better KO percentage, besides wouldn`t Whitaker be too slender as a lightweight to be stronger than the heavier Hatton, and Pea only had one fight at lightwelter.
