Could you argue that Roy Jones was the greatest athlete of all time?

Now obviously in terms of accomplishment, many athletes surpassed Jones. Jordan, Tiger woods, Albert Pujols, Federer etc etc. But strictly in terms of physical advantages over his peers... from an all around standpoint, speed, power, timing, intelligence, foot work and conditioning. I feel that a prime Roy may have had the greatest natural advantages over his peers compared to any other athlete. Thoughts?

Of course you can. He's about as special as it gets when it comes to pure athleticism.

No, not even close. There are multi-sport athletes like Jim Thorpe that many would easily rate over Jones.

it's really impossible to rate against other sports. as far as boxing, yes, he could be the most talented/athletic fighter to ever step in the ring.

  10. its hard to say that especially out of athletes from other sports its like when people try to say phelps is the the greatest olympian because of all his medals meanwhile theirs alot of athletes whos sport couldnt win as much medals as sports , i guess its arguable that out of boxers this is true but not out of any athletes

    Yes you could.

Anybody think Jones could of made it in the NBA? If he'd devoted his life to bouncing a ball instead...

Federer was off the charts for years. Only Jordan or Gretsky compares.

I would imagine so, after all he was semi pro. I know that does count for much but he could certainly developed more as a baller if he had been groomed from a young age like he was for boxing
