Could you support a foreigner against a home fighter? In what circumstances, if any?

    I nearly always root for the brit fighter against a foreign fighter but always try to keep an unbiassed perspective. Personality plays apart as well (I'd love to see Carl Frock flattened by Kessler) and the good of boxing as a whole is something I take into account (wouldn't be too upset if Dawson beat Calzaghe in the near future, even though Joe is my favourite current fighter).

    nationality isnt a factor for me.barrera-hamed is the only fight ive really rooted against a british fighter tho.

    I would almost always support a compatriot against a foreign fighter with some very few exceptions(1.the foreign fighter is my friend 2.he is one of my favourite fighters 3.I hate my compatriot for some reasons)

    It's not like that at all.

    I have fighters I support because of their style or their attitude and that has nothing to do with nationality. When my second favourite fighter meets my tenth favourite fighter it doesn't matter where they are from, i'll support my second favourite fighter.

    Of course where I fighter is from is a part of how much I might like him. I'm more likely to like a fighter who is from my home town better than one who is just "Scottish", a Scottish fighter better than a British fighter and a British fighter better than an Italian fighter.

    But my favourite fighter at the moment is a Mexican. If that Mexican fought a Scotsman I would support the Mexican. For no reason other than I love that fighter.

    Now, let's say I have eight guys at my house for what is a massive fight in Scotland. Threre will be three guys who really know about boxing and four who like the fights. The four who like the fights will support the Scotsman, guaranteed - but for the other three it will be about which of their guys they like. And that will probably be the Scotsman.

    I come from the Philippines, a country with only a couple of really good fighters, so naturally I have rooted for Pac everytime, BUT, here's the kicker, only for patriotic reasons.

    If he fights a fighter I genuinely like, say Guzman, there is no question who I would be cheering for.

    I watned Kostya Tszyu to beat Hatton, I wanted Barrera to beat Naz, I wanted Hopkins to beat Eastman...there may be other examples.

    im sorry to say but im very biased to home fighters!
    least i can admit it , i like for ma country to be great we done get many great boxers from albania so when 1 comes along i cheers great for them!

    naa jus kiddin but yea i really do admire ma home country (UK) by the way n i hope we do well against evreyone , i hope alot of our boxers win jus through nationality even if they love themselves or talk down on oponents,

    Man, I literally can't remember how many times I've supported a foreign (as in, non-English) fighter. Americans, Mexicans, Scots, Welsh, German...Bulgarian!

    Sure I like to root for the Brit fighters but it's the guy throwing the punches I'm interested in. Not where he lives.
