Countdown to Mayweather vs. Baldomir Revisted

Pacquiao - Clottey shouldn't be mentioned alongside Baldomir - Mayweather.

Pacquiao pressed Clottey and did his best to make it a fight.

The reason Mayweather - Baldomir was so boring was because the superior fighter chose not to press the action and instead coasted.

 

At least Mayweather is was schooling his guy and Baldo never stopped trying. Clottey never started trying!

I still can't believe I wasted 50 dollars on that BS Clottey/Pacquiao fight. What a waste of money indeed.

 

Floyd did what he had to do. No one can fairly deride him for not getting the kayo...NO ONE kayos Baldomir. Mayweather damn near shattered his hand on that oversized dome trying to get him out of there.

 

And yet Baldomir beat him...but dont let facts **** you up.

 

floyd didn't have to knock him out, he could have bedazzled him with combinations and put on a show.

Pacquiao-Clottey was by far the best fight out of those three, not even close. Hopkins-Jones was undoubtedly the worst, and Floyd-Baldo in between. I don't give Floyd much credit though as you suggest. Baldo already had about 9 losses by then, he was never anything other than a plodder, any top welter should be creaming him with ease. I wouldn't give Pac or Mosley much credit for a routine win over him either.

 

Let get to the bottom of Pac vs. Clot, you can't blame Clottey alone for that fight. Freddie Roach new going in if you punch at Clottey he doesn't punch back. Why else would Paquiao throw 1200 punches, other than to low Clottey's offensive output. Freddie Roach and Manny Pacquiao won that fight in the exact way they had planned. That's with Clottey throwing very few punches. I'm tired of the Clottey didn't fight crap, Clottey fought his type of fight and that's exactly what Pacquiao wanted.

The Baldomir fight pissed me off. Not for the lack of excitement, but "Money" played it way too safe. It was just too clinical and Floyd could have peppered his ass far more than just "pot-shottin" all night. Now with that being said, the Hop-Jones fight was just two fighters who have become far more defensive and "safety-first" fighters as they got older. The Pac-Clottey fight was just one guy who bothered to show up!!! Although...it was a telling sign that the handful of punches Clottey threw, he was SNAPPING Pac's head BIG-TIME!!!

In fact, the greatest quote I heard as from Steve Toliver (Boxing Writer from "the scene") said: "If you take Pacquiao ten best punches and compare them to Clottey's Ten Best punches of the fight...Clottey's had far more impact and power, he just didn't throw enough".

But for the record Samski...these fools have such a HATRED for Floyd that it blinds them from seeing how good he is. And The Double Standard of the Floyd Hating Threads is just down-right SAD!!!

Example: We just had a fighter (So-called ATG) talk about his cocaine use, Another fighter (in Venezuela) beating his wife AGAIN...And another fighter disrespecting the sport and an extreme lack of professionalism weighing 9 pounds over-weight...Yet there are 10-15 threads a day about the legal issues of Floyd's dad and uncle. Yet the aforementioned fighters get the respect of either having nothing being said or a random thread / article "here or there".

Floyd also hurt his hand halfway into the fight so giv him credit for that. It was noticable as he started thowing less after he hurt it. Hanevt seen the b-hop fight but i didnt think either of the other 2 fights were that boring. A masterclass by floyd and a great performance by pac(u cant blame pac for clottey not showing up, he just went in and did his job.)
