Hi guys, i do a lot of padwork with other fighters at my gym and I am looking for additional ideas for drilling counters. all we seem to do is counter the jab which is good but Im looking for some more ideas. eg catch jab and slip right cross before countering with left hook. all other suggestions gratefully received. thanks
well I only use coach spar mitts with my fighter so we can have the most realism in mitt work with me countring back, but slapping/tapping with regular mitts will work well too. Also title has some good dvds on counter punching/coach spar mitt drills and rodney kind and don familton of the stragiht blast gym are great, kenny weldon is all around great in everything. I am having the same problem finding good counter punching drills online, there is not much out there but are the ones I use: Slip drill: inside slip to jab, then counter with 1-2 Bob and weave drill: 1-2-3-4 to mitts, then bob and weave under mitt and then 1-2 Catch and counter drill: catch the jab, counter with 1-2, cover up to hook, hook, counter with hook, hook All defense drill: catch, shield, work seam of glove, comb cover, then counter Coach spar mitt drills: Coach attacks before during or after punch combos with jabs, 1-2 or hooks 1-2 to head then hook-hook to head 1-2 to head then hook to head- hook to body 1-2 to head then hook - hook to body 1-2 to head then hook to body-hook to head these are just some very basic ones any crtitsim or advise or corrections would be appreciated perhaps some of the online forums on boxing, k.b., m.t., mma, and j.k.d. will have some good mitt work drills maybe???????
