What notable countries in boxing history have produced famous heavyweight contenders who missed winning a piece of the crown?

France, if you don't count Carpintier's White heavyweight title claim.

Interesting, so you have no doubt Filip Hrgovic will get done what Zeljko Mavrovic could not which is win a piece of the HW crown as the second Croat attempting the feat?

intriguing choices. I agree about Denmark...as far as Ireland did they only have heavyweight world champ(s) in the olden days? have there been any modern irish contenders not counting Kevin McBride?

There was such a claim by whom? The media, fans or just Carpentier himself?? Georges didn't go down in history as an official HW champ so I'd keep France on the list...

Interesting; just curious: what was your motivation for picking Panama? I can't recall any solid HW contenders hailing from there...

After Jack Johnson won the title, a "White Heavyweight Title" claim emerged, analogous to the "Colored Heavyweight Title" claim that had preceded it.

Carpintier held this title claim, so if you placed any weighting upon it, then you could at least list him as a title claimant.

I only say this to qualify my nomination, in putting France on the list!

I don't think that part of the world(Central America)will ever have one. Quite small in general.

Ethiopia hasn't had a heavyweight champion yet...and neither has West Timor.....and what do you mean "they aren't notable"?
