I just acknowledged this ****ed up boxing rule (to me): If a boxer is knocked out of the ring, he gets a count of 20 to get back in and on his feet. He cannot be assisted. From Boxrec Boxing Encyclopaedia. This has to be extremely rare. Does anyone have some kind of footage where a fighter is knocked out of the ring and the referee makes a count of 20?:think
Heard about this rule, but never seen it put in use. I know there was a fight in Italy in the 80's where they had a put a 20 count rule in for a normal KO. The champion (the Italian guy of course) was totally featherfisted, and his challenger (for whatever title it was) had real big punchingpower. :hey The ring was huge also! Italy in the 80's and early 90's would put Germany to shame.
If you remember that God awful fight between Freddie Norwood and Derrick Gainer back in 2000, there was a situation where the ref did a 20 count. I don't recall either fighter actually being out of the ring though, seem to recall it was administered after one of them claimed foul. Can say for sure though, only thing I remember clearly is the 20 count and that the fight itself was absolute rubbish to watch.
So if he falls onto a spectator and the spectator helps him up, according to the rule, he would be disqualified. Correct?
Didn't this happen in the Zuri Lawrence vs Hasim Rahman fight. I know Lawrence got knocked out of the ring, but got up and climbed back in.....
