I am going to give boxing a go over this holidays and I have a few questions (I have already read the sticky thread, which is great).

First of all, if I have no experience with any kind of training or sparring, what would be the best way to start? Should I join a gym right away, or train myself up to a less embarassing level of fitness and then head to the gym?

Also, I will probablly be doing my cardio on the beach, is there any negatives to running on sand, or is that better? Is there any other beach/water trainig methods that could help in a boxing workout?

    I appreciate any answers.
    thanks

well should go to a gym right form the start.
The trainer can explain the technique for throwing punches. if you do that on your own you could do something wrong what becomes a bad habbit, like telegraphing your punches (what many beginners do). It's very hard to unlearn such bad habbits.

It is a good idea to start cardio training befor you go to the gym, so you already build up some endurance/stamina.
I don't really see the benefits of doing cardio on the beach, especially when you are just starting with your cardio training cause it will only make it harder.

    that's mine opinion

Good advice. I agree, just work on getting in shape and join a gym and let your coach teach you the boxing stuff.

Start running and cardio and start eating better (if you don't already)

I wouldn't do boxing specific stuff yet, get to the gym to do that.

If Amy jogs down the street go after her, she might give you private lessons.
