According to other sources, these fights are supposedly close to approval: JULY 12, 2008 Wladimir Klitschko vs. Tony Thompson IBF Heavyweight Title _________________________________________ SEPTEMBER 13, 2008 Joel Casamayor vs. Juan Diaz WBO Interim/Ring Magazine Lightweight Title Michael Katsidis vs. Jesus Chavez Lightweight Special Attraction The first fight is scheduled for HBO World Championship Boxing, and the second two for Boxing After Dark.
Not sure if they've been signed. Irony about the Diaz-Casa fight is that King would put Diaz nowhere near Casa when JD was champ, mainly because he was high-risk and low-reward (mind you Diaz could've ended the lineage controversy by beating him). Now that Diaz is beltless and newly signed with Golden Boy, and Golden Boy's other recent signing is aging and on the decline, the fight makes perfect sense since The Ring title (from the magazine which Golden Boy owns) will be on the line.
Wlad waiting till July fight sucks because it pretty much insures that he will spend the rest of the year wasting time with mandatory defenses and not unifying the belts. What should be happening is that he should be negotiating now for his next opponent after Thompson. The sept. bill on HBO looks awesome!
