I was an amazing fighter..From the age of two, I lived with only ONE LUNG,and as a pro fighter I fought FIFTY ONE 15 round bouts, with only one lung...Who am I ?
beat youout of 24567 qoestions that burt has put up that is my first victory.if only i could lay my hands on a certain program i'd be on a roll
T, you are right! Either my questions are getting easier or you boxing fans on ESB are getting more savy..Either case it is Nel Tarleton from Liverpool who from age 2 had just one lung... He became British Featherweight Champion in 1931 I believe, and retired from boxing at the age of 40..Tarleton had 144 bouts with 51 FIFTEEN round fights.. Amazing career for anyone, let alone a guy with one lung...:good
he was one of my dads favourite fights BB .nella died just before his 50th birthday when he would have been eligible for a lonsdale belt winners pension they don't make em' like him anymore.
This one could easily have been my fault, Burt, although T nailed it independently of any attention I brought to Tarleton. I've been trumpeting his achievements ever since joining ESB Classic over three and a half years ago, in a number of posts. (My Dinner With Conteh can confirm this.) If Len Harvey can get into the IBHOF, then I don't see how Nella can indefinitely be kept out.
:goodwell done mate.i've mentioned nella a few times myself.my dad told me about nella back in the 60's and had seen him training at the royal oak in aughton in nellas heyday
I took a glance at my extant past posts on him (preceding the great ESB site crash of 2007), and indeed you and I enjoyed an exchange about Tarleton early last December. Not only was he never stopped, and won around 30 times over the championship distance, I can not find any record of him ever even being knocked down. Is that correct? (Staggering if true. 144 fights without a knockdown would place him in extremely rarefied company.)
