Couture back at UFC 91???

I dont like the style match-up for Randy.

Not good risk/reward.

Then again Randy knows more than we do...then again he may have been offered a huge payday.

Or...this story might be BS

 

I hate to say this but Lesnar would actually be very dangerous / risky for Couture. Even though Lesnar isn't experienced. He's got one thing in common with Couture. and that is wrestling. And he's got nothing to worry in that department.

And Couture isn't a sub wizard. Last time he had to fight a bigger wrestler (Barnett) , we all know how that ended. Even Randleman who's not as big as lesnar or barnett was giving him hell. (though Couture still won that one because Kevin's gas tank wasn't as good as randy's , he ended up wasting all his energy but couldn't last the distance)

Lesar's stamina is good enough to last for 3 or 5 rounds. Only difference with barnett is that he sucks at submissions.

Then again , anything can happen ...in the end...it's all speculation.
But i just think it's a bad match up. I'd give a guy like Yoshida even more chances to win against a guy like lesnar than couture.

 

Randy will own Lesnar, even at his age. I mean come on, this is the same Lesnar that was too scared to do anything to Herring even after he pretty much knocked him out. Randy will submit him. Lesnar is way way overrated.

 

He can lay and pray to a decision. When was the last time Couture pulled a submission ? 3 years ago.
He only had 2 subs in his entire career. (another one in 1997).

Lesnar sucks but
1 he's huge
2 he's a legit , elite wrestler
3 He's got the speed and stamina.

Couture has the experience but it's still a terrible match up. (at least on the ground , it is). Unless of course , he suddenly pulls "shinya aoki types" of moves.

Couture's record shows that he struggles against solid wrestlers & big guys in general. With the exception of Gonzaga & Sylvia. But both aren't wrestling ncaa wrestling champs..

Look how he did against the big guys who had a vast experience in wrestling...
Lost against Barnett
Lost against Rodriguez
Won against Randleman (but if it wasn't for Kevin's poor stamina , who knows what would've happened).

Maybe he can find a way to destabilise his opponent right off the bat ? (like he did to sylvia & Gonzaga , or find a way to have a cut stoppage).

I'm not saying Lesnar is the favorite or anything. Just that it would be a huge challenge. (even though Lesnar pretty much sucks at almost everything but since this would be wrestling vs wrestling...His chances of winning would be pretty good imo)

he just domionated HH in a fight Heath was in the best shape of his career and has fought most of the to guys in the world and wasn't winning this fight for a second. not to mention it was really only his second real fight.

Randy always comes in with a great gameplan...take Tim down and control him....pin gonzaga against the fence\clinch\dirtybox and wear him down and they both worked great. He is not very likely to take Lesnar down and I doubt he will pin the 280 lb guy of huge power strenth and speed. I think this is a very bad match up for Randy....but he has prooven me wrong before.

 

Well, if all that guy said was that Couture is back in gym training, why did anyone assume it's Lesnar and UFC and not Affliction and Fedor?

 

because apperently he offered the UFC a 1 fight deal to settle things out of court....and Lesnar's name came up on anther site.....just a rumour of course. That would be the best thing for all party's involved i think randy realized that this could drag out in court for a long time and might as well try to get out of it a different way.

Not to mention he cannot fight for another org because he is still in contract with UFC.

It looks like the UFC is trying to do something, I was finding it hard to believe that they would just sit back and let all this crap happen, and possibly loose couture and have Affliction hold one of the biggest MMA fights of all time. Hopefully things continue to roll.

 

I don't like a Lesnar match up. It's pointless. Brock needs to erase his loss so he can regain a sense of invincibility and rebuild momentum. I know it's just an early loss but Brock is the type of person who can really be hyped. That isn't necessarily a bad thing given that he is talented and experienced.

 

Brock will never have an aura of invincibility. The facts remain is his a blessed athlete and a great amateur wrestler with excellent wrestling credentials. BUT his an MMA rookie and is learning on the job. Either way Brock vs Randy is a VERY good match for him that Brock CAN win. Randy has never done well against large men who a blessed athletically. Brock could easily take Randy to the mat and pound him out for a relatively quick TKO. Randy would certainly have no answer for his speed and wrestling technique.

 

This is a horrible idea to match up Couture with Lesnar. Couture will destroy Lesnar. Let's not confuse Lesnar's manhandling of Herring with how he will match up with a world class greco-roman stylist like Couture. Brock is a freestyle wrestler - accustomed to shooting for the legs - not locking up with the upper body.

 

right.....so Lesnar will be cllueless if they should lock up and randy will toss him like a toy:-( couture will destroy Lesnar???? Wow I wish I could have the knowledge to make predictions like that. If this fight should come off we need to have an avatar bet.

 

Coutures Greco Roman credentials wont make the slightest bit of diffrence. Brock powered his way out of an armbar when he fought Frank Mir in his debut. He can do the same with ANY man under 265lbs purely based on his enormous physical strength size and athleticism alone. Brock presents many many problems for alot of heavies purely because of his blend of speed athleticism and strength which is rare for a man of his size. This is a bad fight for Randy and could easily end in a TKO for Lesnar.
