Yes it is. I wish this would happen soon or else it might go down as the greatest missed opportunity in MMA history.

Are you saying that Finkelstein doesn't want to make money? :patsch Because the UFC would offer more than other MMA organizations will....
Additionally, Fedor has a mind of his own and it was my understanding that one of the reasons previous negotiations with Fedor and UFC broke down was that Fedor wanted to be able to compete in Russian Sambo. The UFC wanted to limit his MMA to UFC only.

well if you sign with a company having a claus that says you can only fight in that org isn't that unreasonable, it's a football player wanting to also play in the indoor league. Injuries are too big of a risk when there is alot of money on the table.

OK, when Fedor said the contract was too restrictive what did that mean? did it really mean Finkle couldn't control who\where\when Fedor fought? how come so many others can survive these restrictive contracts. I'm not sure the Sambo was the reasoning behind the fallout anyhow, i'm sure they could have worked past that.

I promise you its a BIG deal to Fedor. It's also a big deal that he can't promote the sport in Russia. You don't get it because this sport is so popular in America and you don't have to worry about this ****. You just don't get it. I tried explaining on few accasions to few people on this board but it's just not getting through to you.

Obviously it's not THE thing that they disagreed on, I think that White can agree on letting him compete in sambo. We can only speculate so let's just leave at that. I'm skeptical about anything that comes out of Finkle's or Dana's mouths. I just believe in the fighters.

So when Fedor says the contract is too restrictive it most likely means Sambo. When Finkle says its restrictive in front of Fedor it means Sambo. But to himself it might mean many other things. Fedor lets finkle control everything contract wise so he could be easily mislead on what the contract holds.

it wasn't just about sambo though...Another problem is (according to ufc's contract) , fedor wouldn't be allowed to shoot any types of tv commercials without ufc's permission... or to do anything (even in russia) to either promote/ make money , without ufc's permission.

In other words , You sign with us = i'm your pimp , and you do whatever the **** i tell you to do.

For that kind of money, you should allow the UFC to pimp you.

yes the UFC would want to protect their investment. And Fedor/Finkelstein would not want to cede too much financial control to Dana and Co.. Additionally Fedor wants some freedom to do some non-UFC sanctioned MMA

I think the UFC and Fedor should just do several one fight contracts. :yep

Well it looks like that fight won't be happening in the UFC, too Bad that's where it would get the most exposure, I wonder why randy changed his mind....I guess things really got that bad.

It still could happen but Apperently Randy changed his mind about coming back to the UFC if they signed Fedor for that fight. He says it still should happen in fall.

I don't care where it takes place as long its happens in 2008. I'd prefer a cage over ring because I think it wouldn't be a lopsided fight in the cage.

I hope it still happens - but if Couture is serious about not returning to the UFC - then White is sure to hit him with every lawsuit he can think of to keep Couture out of a fighting ring. That's why this turn of events does not bode well. Even with a heavy hitter like Mark Cuban footing the bill for the lawsuit - it could still delay the parties invovled indefinitely.
