On David Haye’s recent claims that James Toney is delusional for fighting in the UFC:
"He is very right. It’s a freak show. I said I’d never put on a freak show fight and I’m doing it. Listen, this guy [Toney] chased me around the country saying bad things about the sport. If he wants to get his ass whooped, I’m gonna let him. You want me to tell you, ‘James Toney vs. Randy Couture is gonna be the greatest fight in the history of the sport?’ No. I’m building a great card around this fight. You’re not buying the James Toney vs. Randy Couture fight alone. Here’s what I expect; the bell rings, they come to the center of the Octagon, circle each other for a little bit, Randy double legs him, puts him against the fence, squashes his head and the fight is over. But I’m not delusional. We started filming the UFC 118 Countdown show, and as fat as James Toney is, all the guys working on the show say his hands are like lightning, they’re so fast. You can’t disrespect the guy for what he’s accomplished in his career. He could catch Randy and knock him out. Everybody has a puncher’s chance. God forbid."

This is something i've constantly argued..Couture-Toney isn't a stab at boxing, it's makinging James try and back up his smack talk. To Dana's credit, he at least acknowledged that Toney's hand speed could cause trouble for Randy.

Source is Bloody appearing Elbow. I hope Randy smashes him if James wants to show up unprepared.

He says he is fat at present. If this is the case after Toney has been mouthing off for 9 months or more then he just hasn't trained hard enough. Oh well.

eh not necessarily.Roy Nelson is fat as hell. lay on top and let gravity do the rest might work. he's 41 has been blown up for a while.doesn't surprise me if he fights fat in august.

Roy Nelson is a wrestler who knows how to use his weight. Toney is a stand up fighter whose core style will be speed, agility, reflexes, stamina, balance etc

Regardless of how James Toney goes against Couture, he has got real balls to take on MMA at age 41, a sport he's never competed in before against a hall of fame fighter.

James Toney might talk heaps of smack, but he's willing to back in up in the ring. In this case the octagon.

How so?? He'll just promote Toney as a freak of Nature. The first true crossover star of MMA.

Unless you guys stop watching the UFC/WEC and stop buying their PPVs, theres no stopping Dana and its going to get worse.

Heck, Im one of the few here thats in amazement of why people still watch TUF and those are the same people who hates Danas guts.

You guys are all fueling this madness in one way or another.

hahaha:good totally agree. I don't watch that show nor do I pay for the fights anymore. The current situation with Mama Dana keeping all his kids inside makes it a win/win situation ALL times. This is the reason he doesn't let the kids out to play. If his boys lose in a co-promotion or in another event he will feel like he has lost control and unable to spin it into his favor. Fortunately Coker and the Japs from Dream and Sengoku don't have that complex about them.

  13. I would fall off my chair laughing if Toney kicks Randy's ass...........this would really highlight how weak the UFC fighters are and probably expose the Myth of Randy Couture. The UFC's PR machine would have a hard time trying to spin why their hall of famer lost to an old, way past his prime, non MMA (just started too) fighter.

Myth of Randy Couture? I take it you really don't pay much attention to MMA at all huh? There isn't a myth about him.Randy performs great for a fighter of his age (older than Toney and past his prime as well) but he's not known for having a steel chin or anything of that sort.If anything, stand up will be his undoing but he's a great wrestler and that's his strength.Being in great shape for his age and being a good wrestler.Hardly the stuff myths are made up of.
