how would a fight between prime randy couture and mirko cro cop work out like? mirko is a little heavier 220 lb, 99.8 kg; 15.7 st. randy being 205 lb 93.0 kg; 14.6 st. but if they met in the middle somewhere.
in a cage, rc takes cro cop down several times and keeps him down for 3 round UD. in a ring captain america lands the overhand right(like kevin randleman) and kos CC.
Id probably give Cro Cop the edge IF its in a RING. Couture obviously cant strike with CC and his best way to get fights to the ground is to use cage tactics which he cant use in a ring plus he wont be able to use any elbows which are a big part of Randy's game once the fight hits the floor. Id say CC probably knocks him out with some left hands because he would be leary of throwing kicks IMO with a guy like Couture see Mirko's fight with Gonzaga one kick and hes down. In the cage id give Cro Cop little chance to win it. Cro Cop had good takedown defense but mostly just agianst long doubles see the Mark Coleman fight basically he had good takedown defense agiansts shots that you could see a mile away which I guess isnt really that good. Well theres no comparision to Coleman and Couture. Couture will wanna close that distance, use the cage, rough Cro Cop up and get him to the ground and break his weak will. Couture would win by GNP stoppage. Plus this fight isnt in Japan where Cro Cop and most of the Pride stars where using PED's.
Technically and strategically I think Couture does Cro Cop. Comes in, moving his head, okay boxing, roughs you up, takes you down, pounds you. Couture is a hard guy BUT Cro Cop has the speed and his left hand and left kick are serious. Unfortunately for Couture I think it might be a case of the nautrally bigger man with more power getting to him. If Cro Cop was not on his game though Randy could suprise.
I understand this cage/ring malarky, but Randy still has to close the distance to get the clinch wherever the fight takes place, and I dont see him being successful at striking his way in Mirko by kod
I remember when Mirko first came to the UFC and was known for his deadly striking and tremendous takedown defence. Back then he was considered a nightmare match up for Randy. :-( Prime Cro Cop would destroy Randy no matter where the fight took place imo.
