I agree with most of these comments, just because Fedor lost last night, doesn't mean Couture beats him at anytime in his career. In fact, I personally think the Fedor who lost last night, would have still beaten Couture, never mind the version Couture would have fought had the fight taken place. Fedor lost to a guy who outweighted him by about 50lbs..it was size as much as anything that allowed Silva to win, Couture doesn't have that advantage.

I am more confident than ever that Couture would have beaten Fedor. Fedor has been in decline since his victory over Crocop in 2005 whereas Couture peaked in 2007.

However I have no interest in dragging Fedor through the mud today. I just wanted to argue my point with you guys because too many people on this board try to write off Randy Couture's accomplishments in MMA.

Out of respect to Fedor I won't pursue this any further.

Fedor would sweep Couture like Nog did to him in their fight and get koed standing

You could be right, styles make fights. Fedor does look like he's on the decline though. But both at their best, I'd say 50/50. I thought Fedor was gonna won last nites fight, but you can see he's fading a little. Credit to Silva though, I guess we'll just have to see how Silva does the rest of the tornament.

When a good portion of your wins are via GNP thats when you have mastered it. Liddell, Belfort, Gonzaga, Randleman I could go on with quality guys Couture beat the **** out of with his GNP. Fedor was a great fight but what the last 2 fights have proved is that his ground game isnt all that great. Very good yes but there are flaws in his game. Pulling off armbars on the likes of Choi, Lindland and Coleman cant even compare to trying an armbar on a guy who nulified everything Jacare could do offensivly like Couture did. Couture's wrestling credentials speak for themselves and hes outwrestled plenty of high level wrestlers in MMA even you know that. Fedor can be taken down, Fedor can be hit and Fedor does bleed. Silva took him down pretty easily and ****ing owned Fedor on the ground im not saying Couture does it because they are different fighters but how in the **** is that a joke ? Gonzaga is a more accomplished BJJ player then most anyone in MMA yet he didnt seem to do **** to Couture when he was getting his face pounded in by a broken arm.

judging fedor on his last two fights seems silly to me.

fedor is the guy that had no trouble going to the ground with Nog in his prime. But couture has the better ground game even though he has been beaten on the ground multiple times throughout his career.

Let me judge couture by his fights with Brock and Nog then. Is that ok for you.

Randy Couture just may be the most overrated fighter in the history of MMA.

  9. Fedor is a more accomplished ground fighter who has better wins on the ground than Randy. Randy has lost over 1/3 of his fights and was dominated by many guys. Prime Randy wouldnt stand a chance against a prime Fedor.

You also do know that Lindland is a far better and more accomplished wrestler than Randy right?

Hes a more accomplished wrestler who is alot ****ing smaller. 185 Lindland is not going to be able to do the things a 220 pound Couture can especially a Couture hes evolved much more then Lindland. So he lost 1/3 of his fights we know Fedor would have lost more then 3 fights had he not feasted on guys like Lindland, Zulu, Choi, Valavicius, Hunt, Nagawa, Ogawa, and Goodridge in his prime years.

You don't beat the fighters that Couture has beaten be considered overrated. That's pure nonsense. That's what I hate most about this board. Too many of you cats try to write off great fighters because they're in the UFC or whatever your reasons are. One step from my ignore list for your posts.

Who do you think Fedor would've lost to that Couture fought? Talking Fedor from even a couple of years ago, not the fedor fighting now. And then go ahead and say who you think a prime fedor loses to that Randy fought.

Couture is overrated. He is a very good fighter, does some things very well. But he also has many weaknesses and is vulnerable and inconsistent. People get so damn offended with reality. It's silly. The guy is overrated. What would've happened to Fedor's ranking if he got KO'd twice by a light heavyweight??? Say Fedor had a trilogy with Shogun in Pride and the 2nd and 3rd fights ended with him being knocked the **** out? Then also say he lost to Barnett and Ricco? Oh and got KO'd standing by Brock??? Not grinded out on the ground, Knocked out by a punch from Brock! Then he took a beating from Vera, but eeked out a decision. It's funny that Fedor gets criticized for fighting Tim Sylvia when there was better competition out there. When he sparked him out in like 30 seconds, but Randy grinds out a 5 round decision against the same guy and it's looked at as one of his greatest accomplishments. That right there ==== The guy is overrated.
