Seriously though. I don't have a problem with you Bewareofdog. I just get tired of having to write out these encyclopedic responses to some of the opinions that float around here. Do what you want. I'm not posting anything to tear down Fedor this week.

Fedor's ranking would've dropped if he was ko'd by a light heavy, but I didn't see anyone say he should be ranked as high as Fedor. Some people wonder how he would fare fighting Fedor, and head to head has little to do with rankings. Chuck Liddell is consistently ranked higher than Rampage, but happened when they fought?

Randy Couture is a great fighter, and is arguably a top 5 heavyweight. Couture's record is a bit deceiving because he jumped into top competition from the beginning, but he has too many good wins to ignore. And he did not grind out a decision over Sylvia, he dominated him.

Couture was never a serious threat to Fedor IMO, Fedor by submition or KO.

He might have a chance of doing that vs THIS version of Fedor but at the time of the unecessary hype... no fkn chance.

Your living in dreamland if you believe Couture had a prayer of doing that to a prime Fedor.

It cant be tarnished because reasonable fans without any agenda judge a fighter at his best, no amount of past prime losses can undo the good stuff.

Fedor has slipped, that much is obvious... at the time the fight was discussed, Randy would have taken an ass raping... he has a chance because everyone has a chance but 99% of the time Fedor kills him.

Agreed but I just wanted to make clear Randy had some kind of chance.

Stupid thread, the answer is no-one.... it would have been a 1 sided ass kicking in Fedor`s favour anyway.

There are some on this very forum who rank Couture top 3 P4P all time, and top 3 heavyweights.

I think that Fedor, Nog, and Cro Cop are clearly the top 3. Randy has impressive wins in two weight classes, so I see why someone might be tempted. I don't think he ever established himself as dominant enough in one division to rank that high. Couture defeated Liddell, but was never as dominant at 205 as Liddell was. If Couture had Liddell's record at light heavy to add to his own wins at heavy, then one could make that case.

Listen, Im not saying couture isnt a very good fighter I just dont consider him great. If you do thats fine by me, but couture is simply not going to beat a prime fedor or even the fedor of 2008 that he wanted to fight.

It is pretty close to certain that fedor wins against couture. Couture wouldnt even have a significant size advantage in this matchup.

Anyway, I like randy couture and am not trying to discredit his career, but I think peoples fondness of couture obscures their opinion of his abilities and limitations.

I wonder about cro-cop sometimes as well, I dont know who should rank above him at #3(besides fedor and then Nog) but is he really the clear #3 ATG heavy?

I guess those victories over barnett count for a lot but he had some major weaknesses. I guess 1 & 2 spots are so solid that the #3 seems shaky by comparison to me. Perhaps Im not so good with rankings, too indecisive.

I always see Cro Cop at no 3 by default too. Time wont be kind to him in terms of atg rankings. But for the moment his laundry list of ko's, beating Barnett x 3 and giving Nog & Fedor their toughest fights arent to shabby achievements. Nobody else has achieved as much at heaveyweight so far even Randy
