I didn't think Couture would be able handle Gabes size so well, with his wrestling, dirty boxing and clinching ability he can nulify the size difference he faced against Sylvia and Gonzaga. He has also improved on his stand up, his punches are alot more effective as well.so question is is it really far fetched that Randy could beat Fedor as well? I think he has a dam good shot, but will Fedor come to the ufc or will his Sambo come first for him.
Yea, I take back few things i've said about Couture in the past. I think he's the ****. After this fight i really, REALLY want to see Couture vs Fedor. Much more than Silva vs Liddell or any other fight. In a cage Couture has a REALLY good shot vs fedor. He'll probably use same tactics of basicly jamming Fedor into a cage and holding him while doing some damage with elbows and short punches. I don't know what Fedor's plan would be though but Randy showed once again how good he can be at planning a fight. I now realize all Randy's strengths. P.S. Did you ****in see Couture WALK through those head kicks? What... the ****...
Travesty if this fight never happens, it would be bigger than Randy vs Silva when that was the dream fight, bigger than Chuck vs Silva when that was the dream fight, and bigger than CroCop vs Fedor, as Couture actually holds a title. Both are so strikingly similar, incredibly humble, with hearts and brains that allow them to win fights when it appears they shouldn't be able to, both inspirations to their country, if not Heros (I hate to use that term for a sportsman, but they have both served their country in the military so it is not quite as shallow in this example), both are incredibly accomplished in their previous discipline, both have every fighter in the world wanting to train with them. With all that said, I think Randy takes it, I can't tell you why, because both of these guys gameplans will be so advanced prediction is futile, I just think Randy will somehow, someway, win. If he doesn't he lost to the best and so be it. The winner of this fight becomes the John L Sullivan of MMA.
PLEASE, DANA WHITE and ZUFFA, MAKE THIS HAPPEN!! I can see Couture winning. Like Beebs mentioned before, out of all people Couture matches up the best against Fedor. At this point, im not sure who would win. I think its a toss up. I'll be cheering for Fedor though.Sry guys, gota go with my country.
Thats basically the determining factor for me as well, its that close. And those quotes just show how classy these guys are, refreshing really.
I don't think anybody matches up well against Fedor. He's a walking contingency.. Can we give Wandy partial credit for Randy's improved standup? They've been working together.
Randy used to box in the military.I dont think those skills ever left him.His just gone back to the obvious basics of hand to hand combat and combined that with the rest of his skills.I believe he fairs so well because of his military discipline.He still operates like Fedor, just like a soldier who is constantly in top form and just walks in the octagon and simply gets the job done.
Randy has always had good stand up. He spars with Quinton Jackson. I wish I could find the video of them again. Randy has always moved his head well and been able to let off a variety of good shots. Never seen him jab much but he doesn't really need it.
UFC needs to sign fedor to make this fight happen NOW. They waited to long to get silva in the ring with chuck and now the huge glamour of that match has disapeared, but Fedor/Couture would be bigger than Chuck/Silva was at any point, bigger than any fight in history.
This fight would be very, very close and I think highly entertaining. Everything says Fedor on paper, but I've told myself I will never, ever again bet against Randy Couture, until he's 50. So he's got 6 more years where I will always pick him to win a fight. :deal
Yea, but just when you start gettin confident in Couture he loses =/ even if by a cut but still. So gay. BTW guys, you know that Couture broke Gonzaga's nose with his HEAD? Not saying it would've went other way if it didn't happen but i'm sure it didn't help out Gonzaga none. It happened when Couture got that nasta take down that made Gonzaga fold in half.
Not really, Wandy's only been there a short while and Randy has his own stand up coaches that he works with, and he fights a pretty different style of standup than wandy.
