Because Noguiera is boring and no one wants to watch him fight.

I want to watch Nogueira fight. He is a jijutsu master. Poetry in motion. Like Relson always says about him - he has jiujitsu in his blood. *taps forearm*

True champ is Fedor. Dana White is an *******. Earth is round.

This fight has nothing to do with #1 contenders or anything like that. Brock Lesnar has notoriety from his time in WWE, and his comedic performance in the NFL. Dana White is looking at money, there is no way in hell, that if Lesnar came into the UFC without the resume he has, he would get this fight. Brock has only 3 MMA fights under his belt, only 2 UFC fights, and has a UFC record of 1-1. Couture, yeah, getting up there in age he's 45, but will beat the brakes off of Lesnar, Lesnar has a mean punch, but Rnady has a solid chin. If Lesnar has a lucky night and does win the title, that would be so much crap, but all still my money's going to Couture

Because the bloke who posted is one of those idiots that thinks the favourite should always win.Only if Lesnar gets lucky can he win:patsch . And that would be ****:patsch .Because he shouldnt be allowed to fight a legend after only 3(2wins) mma bouts.

I quess Douglas shouldnt of been allowed to beat Tyson because he was a 41/1 underdog with the bookies.

I quess Leon Spinks should of never of been allowed to defeat Ali because he had only under 10 pro bouts.

I quess my beloved Penrith Panthers should of never been allowed to defeat the defending champs the Sydney Roosters in the 2003 Rugby League Grand Final because the Panthers finished last in 02.

Im on the Lesnar bandwagon.Im not saying he is a world beater but he is definetly a live underdog with a large fisted chance on a huge upset.

First of all, if Brock wins against Couture it proves that he is a true force to be reckoned with in the HW division. Beating Herring rose his value significantly, but it is nothing compared to a win over Couture.

Does beating Couture mean Brock could beat Nog? Absolutely not, styles make fights and Nogueira's style SEEMS to be the absolute worst that Lesnar can face.

Nog and Mir are lined up to fight in November, and it would be foolish for the UFC to cancel that fight. So, what do they do with Randy? Are they going to let Randy sit out for ANOTHER 9 months so he can fight the winner of Nog-Mir? That's just ridiculous.

Creating this sort of tournament bracket for the title is actually very very much in the interests of the UFC and the fans. Everyone knows that Couture's days as champ are limited now, and by providing a semi-tournament, we will know that the next champ is legit, and not just the first guy to beat Randy once he's over the hill.

Also, the tournament provides some real interest in the HW division. Frankly, Lesnar has proved that he is at least SOMETHING by beating Herring, and while he may not yet have the record to justify the title shot he is getting, who should get it instead? Mir and Nog are out of the picture. If anyone should get it it should be Werdum, but Werdum will probably get one after this little tourney is over so who really cares anyways?

I think that this is good for the UFC's HW division and it's good for the fans. At least with these 4 HWs fighting in this format we might finally get some good exciting HW fights from the UFC.

very nice post. i wonder what all the lesnar haters out there would say if lesnar does beat randy. id like to see lesnar beat randy and mir beat nog and a rematch of lesnar and mir since lesnar got screwed out of a win against mir by the ref. any other fight on that ufc card where one fighter got pounded like mir got by lesnar and the fight wouldve been stopped quickly the last ortiz-shamrock fight got stopped without half of the domination that mir was getting

How good would that be if Randy beats Lesnar than beats the winner of Mir/Nog?
Than Fedor can destroy Randy and people will shut up :p.

The UFC has advertised themselves as NOT doing what boxing does, which is sell out to maximize profits. In MMA anybody has a chance to beat anyone on any given night, see Serra/GSP or Lauzon/Pulver and so on...the point is that there are more deserving fighters in the UFC of that "chance" against Couture than Lesnar. The ****ing guy has a 50/50 record after only 2 fights in the organization and it's not like he has a resume prior to coming to the UFC to merit a title shot either :deal He beat Herring....well so did Jake O'brien :deal

Lesnar vs. Randy, although entertaining, is a circus fight. No way does Lesnar deserve a title shot. And people were bashing Fedor for taking these circus fights. Well the door swings both ways.
