you know Lesnar is an NCAA Champion, a 280lb monster in his prime etc etc? His fighting credentials are about as good as it comes.
That's right in only his second real MMA fight he dominated a veteren fighter with over 40 fights from bell to bell.:deal
Ok and in the fight immediately prior to that he got caught in a loose ankle lock and he had no idea what to do, when the escape to that maneuver is actually very basic. Which tells me he needs a hell of a lot more experience before gettting the chance to fight for the title :deal Wait but lets just forget that 1st round submission loss two fights ago, because his WWE fans will bring in a lot of money. Kongo Beat up Crocop....where the hell was his title shot? Oh thats right, he didn't have the drawing power that Brock has so he didn't get one :deal Jake O'brien also dominated Herring from bell to bell, where the hell is his immediate title shot....get the point yet?
It wasn't an ankle lock and it wasn't loose. The escape to everything is rather basic, but there are counters and re-counters to everything. A guillotine is simple, but pequeno can guillotine anybody in the world, the basics are what works, thats why they are basic. So enough of implying that getting caught in a basic submission is the same as getting caught in a bad or sloppy submission, especially when you don't even know what the submission was, a kneebar by the way. Kongo lost to Herring. The only reason Lesnar is getting a title shot is because Nog and Mir already had a match signed and prepared for.
Just remember guys MMA is a sport, UFC is a BUSINESS. That's why Brock Lesnar is getting a title shot. Lesnar-Couture puts asses in the seats. I don't like it myself and find it disrespectful to the fighters who've been honing their craft for ever a decade and don't get breaks and may never get any, while this ape just gets pushed right into the limelight because of his celebrity status, but that's how it is.
Those are good credentials to have indeed but they wouldn't of mattered had he not gone on to became a popular wrasslin' champion and that is no lie. If he was joe smoe, the 1998 NCAA champion who pumped gas at the local gas station, no one would know who he is an he would have to start from the very BOTTOM if he was even picked up by some fighting organization. That means spending a couple of years in obscurity in order to prove yourself. Lesnar on the other hand, he is the ufc cash cow, which is why he was allowed to skip all that and is getting a shot at the title already. I'm not going to say he isn't competitive, because he is, but I don't like how he didn't have to pay his dues like the other fighters and is making already making much more then 95% of them. I remember in his ufc debut, mir got something like 50K while Lesnar got over 300k or some riddiculous number like that.
Not directed at anyone but umm... escape's from submissions arn't that basic. They are pretty much will be a failure against a person who know what they are doing. What is basic is preventing the submission IF you know it's coming. But the knowledge that the submission is coming only comes with lots of experience.
So what if I typed the wrong submission, you've never responded quick and made a mistake. It doesn't change the fact that the defense to a Kneebar is elementary....which is why you hardly ever see anyone get submitted by one. And Frank Mir said himself that it wasn't on tight :deal
