Couture vs. Vera - UFC 105 (Spike TV)

Rashad would have knocked Randy out. Vera will beat him. Couture cant take punch anymore

 

Vera by TKO me thinks. Take it this is at 205, which I don't think is good for Couture added to the fact he's well past it. I don't understand why he's still fighting tbh.

 

Vera can stop Couture but he is going to need to be more aggressive. I wouldn't rule Couture out though and hope he wins. I can see it being a close fight and going to the judges.

 

Sylvia beat Vera.

Randy will out strike him and press him against the cage.

 

I read somewhere that there was talk of Hughes vs Anderson (don't know how true it is). Thats how desperate the UFC are to find a main event for 105. Its a shame they couldn't get Hendo vs Mardquart to headline this event.

 

It's a good fight for Couture to see if he has anything left.

 

You know I dont mind this match TBH. It a winnable fight for Couture but at the same time it is for Vera and this win could be the most important of his career. Veras a much better striker although I think Randy can give him some trouble early on and maybe not have to worry TO MUCH cause Veras punching power isnt one of his greatest assests. Vera likes them kicks alot which could be good for Randy because you dont wanna give Randy a leg and Vera has been finished on the ground. Couture isnt the BJJ guy Werdumn was so it might be hard to gain the mount postion but he has better postion I could see a stronger Couture stopping Vera inside his half guard. Its not a bad matchup its a real intriguing fight.

 

Yeah Hughes vs Anderson would be retarted. How would we do it ? Would it be a Middleweight and would it be a title fight ? Hendo hasnt signed a new contract yet and seems only intrested in 205 fights or a Middleweight Championship fight which hey its Hendo you know he doesnt duck guys and at this point can kinda pick opponets. Vera vs Couture isnt a bad main event though.

 

I agree, its a tough one for the UFC so when you take all the stuff into consideration (Rampage pulling out, LW title fight moving to 107, Hendo out of contract) its not a bad headliner.

 

Yeah it is and this never even crossed my mind I kept thinking they would do something Matt Hughes for the main event because Matt although a douche will usually fight anyone and anytime. This is better then any Matt Hughes fight.

 

Vera?! This fight should be a sleeper with Vera running in circles.

Vera dominates lesser guys and is tentative as hell against good fighters. The only really good fighter he beat was Mir and I don't know how much Mir's best we saw in that fight. Vera is no Nog and unless he manages to work his kicks better than anyone else ever has against Couture I'll take Couture to win this. I think people are seeing Couture's loss to Nog as being that he's shot more than that Nog was just really good.
