Couture vs. Vera - UFC 105 (Spike TV)

I have to call bull**** on that. Couture would ragdoll Evans. Rashad isn't a striker. Don't let his lucky KO of Liddell fool you. Chuck walked into that shot. Machida is a true striker. Notice the difference between the two in their fight?

 

I think that Evans' striking on the whole is pretty crude, but this is bull****. He had Liddell timed in the second round and hit him with that one two comco 3-4 times before the KO. Also, I'm not sure how Machida figures into a fight analysis between Evans and Couture. It's not like Couture's stand up game is anywhere near Machida's either.

 

Couture should retire before he get seriously hurt.

 

:happy Thankyou so often I hear Evans is this great striker but based on what ? A headkick on a 2 foot tall opponet and one counter on Liddell. People for some reason have this belief he stopped Forrest on their feet which is not the case he got dominated on their feet then caught a leg kick and took it down to the mat. Even Tito outstruck him. All he does is wave his ****ing hands back and forth like a ******.

 

Good fight for vera. He needs a big name opponent at 205. Couture is still a threat cuz of his wrestling. Vera better keep this fight standing if he wants to win.

 

Couture is ****ing old. Eventually he won't be able to beat father time. In fight years he is at least 90.

I was trying to point out that machida is a real striker as evidenced by the way he tooled Evans. Saying Evans would KO Couture when he's handled much more dangerous strikers than Evans such as Liddell and Belfort is just ludicrous to me.

 

Im not totally sure Vera can win by just keeping it standing. 2 things bout Vera kinda play into Coutures hands 1 being is that like 75 percent of his offense maybe even more is all kick and Randy is a outstanding wrestling we all know that if he sees a kick he will catch it and take Vera down where hes the stronger fighter. The 2nd thing is Vera doesnt work very hard on his feet hes not really pressing the action its like hes sparring or doing the point fighting sports. Vera did basically just enough to win his last fight and not enough to beat Sylvia or Jardine and we know Randy likes to press the action and come forward he could make Vera uncomfertable by doing that. This is a very hard fight to pick IMO.

 

YOu are right to a certain point, but I just feel that if Nog could land at will on Randy with his slow hands, well, Rashad just need one shot and he has that power and he will put Randy to sleep.
Randy Couture isnt a top 10 fighter for me anymore, he has no more punch resistance, he is a better striker than evans, yes, but with those little glove, he would get knocked out, now at 46.
If you take the couture of the Gonzaga fight, then yes, he would ragdoll him since his punch resistance was good in that fight taking a ****ing high kick. But no more that case, IMHO
