I am sure that Randy thought the UFC would make the Fedor fight happen for him. Also, fighters can resign any time that they want to. They will just have a penality for doing so. Randy believes that his contract was for 4 fights OR 18 months which runs out in July. Randy isn't telling them to let him out of his contract early... he is simply waiting for the time to run out. He was recovering from a broken arm, and would have had to wait that much longer to be able to get into the ring for another fight anyways.... so he decided that at this stage of his career, he had done all he could do with the UFC and wanted the biggest fight out there. I can understand him.

You guys aren't going through the real details. That is where the problem is... some people are saying that Randy's contract is for 4 fights... some say it runs out in July... according to Randy and his lawyers, the contract was for 4 fights OR 18 months. So, he is choosing to wait out the rest of the 18 months. Big John McCarthy said that he has seen the contract, and he believes that Randy will win a court case if it went there. By his contract, Randy should be free of it in July.

I am sure that Dana White and company are going to say that he still owes them fights, because he was offered fights that he turned down... and I don't blame them either. We will have to see how it turns out.

 

Well I don't know whats in the contract, it just seemed as though The UFC kinda had a more convincing argument or case. I personally, as a fan want to see him fight NOg so we can have a real champ. It is never good in boxing or MMA if the Champ walks away. Another thing, why is Randy above NOg? Shouldn't he also want to fight NOg? He could fight him and then fight Fedor when his contract runs out, everyone wins......except maybe Couture :think

 

Well... I think that the UFC had a better case as far as how much money Randy was making. However, they never stated their case on his contracted fights or length... so I don't know how you came to that conclusion. However, Randy said himself not to feel sorry for him about his pay, because he was one of the few guys who were well taken care of in that department. I never gave a **** about the money anyways. I don't feel sorry for rich people with money issues. I don't bash the UFC either, they are trying to stay on top.

However, when it comes to people bashing Randy for waiting out his contract so he can fight Fedor... I just don't get it. The man is old, and that is the only fight that he wants. He has earned it, he can have it. We should be praising him for wanting to put together the biggest fight out there, not bashing him for not fighting someone who everyone claims is washed up.

 

By doing evryone a favor and beating that boring fukc Sylvia, it aint his fault Cro Cop got decapitated by Gonzaga, Couture beat the man that beat the man. . . after moving up from LHW.

Anyone who cant appreciate Couture as a fighter is simply not a fan of the sport. :deal

 

Couture is alright.. he's just overrated.
He's never really been best of the best in any weight class, imo.

 

No, he is not. One sided, patently unfair contracts may be overturned by a court as fraudulent.

 

How you figure? Randy won titles in 2 different weight classes. Who has accomplish what he has at his age??? He owned the same guy who KO crocop. He ate the same high kick that knock crocop out but he didn't go down. He belongs with the best of the best. IMO he is ranked up there with fedor and the only man that has a CHANCE to beat fedor.

 

He was just never great, imo. Titles don't mean much if you can't put together some defenses. Most of his big wins were just boring clinch and lay and pray.

And he would lose to Sylvia in a rematch. Sylvia didn't take that fight seriously.


Couture may have had some sort of chance against Fedor in a cage... but he has ZERO chance in a ring. None.

 

so much ignorance in one post, he dominated a prime Tito and beat the snot outta Chuck in the first match (props to Chuck for avenging that loss). He destroyed Vitor - everyone thought invincable at the time. He dominated a HUGE heavyweight to take the title. His accomplishments speak for themselves.

I will never understand the hate he gets.

 

People have decided they can only be a fan of Fedor or Couture, only a fan of the UFC or a hater, no in between or gray area.

Therefore if Fedor is good Randy is a fraud, or if Randy is good Fedor is irrelevant.

 

What part of the full 25 minutes of Couture domination leads you to believe that?

 

Yea, it's crazy. I happen to be one of those "crazy" guys who believe that Randy and Fedor are both great. Fedor is a great fighter, and #1 in the World right now at Heavyweight. However, if he doesn't fight some good comp soon, he can't hold onto that title much longer. Randy is the next guy in line, and I would love to see a fight between the two. In a cage, I think that I would favor Couture. In a ring, I definitely favor Fedor.

Sylvia didn't take the fight seriously?:rofl As if Tim is this amazing athlete that doesn't need to train. Especially when fighting against a guy who was known to beat him around like a rag doll in the practice room.

Hey, my favorite fighter at the time was Tito. . . Randy beat him down and I wasnt happy about it but I give the man his due repect. . . he is good for the sport. Its not like he goes around ducking worthy challengers. Hate for real "fighters" like this is just stupid.

 

Then you have some sorry ass opinion. I mean it is your own opinion but they aren't good ones. Randy couture is a great fighter who has accomplished more than anyone in MMA. He has fought all the big names in the lhw divison and beat them. Same goes for the hw. only one fight left and that is fedor.
