nah man. Dirrell doesn't like getting hit and is coming off a big KO and would be fighting Ward with no tuneup. Ward will land on Dirrell alot more than Froch or Abraham could.

He did throw in the towel. Just so much of a ***** he preferred to do it before the first bell rang. I bet Ward even promised him he'd go easy on him too to try and make him take the fight. Arthur Abraham does not deserve to have a loss from Dirrell on his record, Margarito hit Cotto with a worse punch when he was down and nothing. Dirrells bitching got AA dq'd because his fists couldn't finish the job.

 

While Abraham has himself to blame, the reaction to the punch was clearly a fake. Dirrell seems to have an OK chin, he took some good punches from Abraham before. The Abraham hits him with a swinging extended arm, no matter if he is a hard puncher, that just doesn't generate a lot of force. Dirrell touches his face, then sinks to the ground. Flush punches before didn't affect him too much and then an arm swing completely wipes him out...

 

I'll wait till we get confirmation, or at least see the episode for myself before passing judgement. It does seem very suspicious though.

 

If you look at how Showtime reacted to Taylor pulling out, there's a huge difference. I think they know what Dirrell has done and want to embarrass him, in a way. If he was legit, no way would they do something as provocative as this.

 

Yeah I agree...I'll wait to see how long he is out first. If he starts negotiating or training for a bout after those 3 months(?) he's not allowed in the ring, then it is pretty clear that it was an excuse not to fight his 'good friend'.

 

Looks more and more like he faked it.

 

If he expects to ever fight again, he better be ready for the huge backlash that comes.

I also think this is backed up by the fact that Dirrell waited (unless I am mistaken)until Showtime announced their plans regarding the semis(push the remaining original 4 fighters thru , or continue stage 1 and include the replacements). Then it became a risk /reward thing..... but isn't it always.

 

Never checked if it's on youtube, it's on one of the replay versions, i think the HBO one with Marry Lerchant interview. that was one of the great hwt moments.

Shortly after 3:00 Dirrell shows his true colours. After the 'worst fight ever', Dirrell proudly boast to a friend amidst booing, 'I got paid like a mother****er so I don't care'.
I hope we never see him in a ring again.
