The fact is, the Witter fight has history. A background. And now that Witter is a world champ in HIS division, the fight makes perfect sense. That's why I feel dubious over his next choice of opponent... For if he DOESN'T choose Witter, why not Paulie or Torres? There the only logical fights, imo.

If Hatton comes out and says he wants to rebuild his confidence with a fight over a can in his hometown, then sure, he's EARNED that right... But he hasn't said that. He's said he's "leagues" above the others... Come on, now. I ain't even gonna start what's wrong with that. It's not like Hatton didn't get KTFO out in his last fight, fighting the p4p no. 1 or not. He still got KTFO.

Are you joking? In case you're not, you're suggesting Witter dump his WBC belt so that he can make himself the mandatory for Hatton's IBO belt? Maybe Cotto should dump his WBA title so he can become Floyd's mando? Obviously, both of those would be bad moves.

 

You think Cotto vs. Mayweather is the same thing? Not even close. Cotto has defeated more top WW's then Witter has JrWW's. Cotto is the obvious #1 to Mayweather @ 147. There really is no doubts about that. Witter's not in the same situation.

Demanding fights when you aren't the #1 mandatory gains strength based on level of competition. If Witter beat eveyrone else, and STILL wasn't getting a shot, that would be different.

 

Ok, then you are serious. Who's the number 1 JWW if not Witter? Once again, it would be a big mistake for Witter to drop his WBC belt to try to become Hatton's IBO mando. Fact of the matter is, Junior is willing to fight anyone. However, given his talent and style as well as his lack of drawing power, not many are going to fight him. As a result, he's going to have to make some noise to get the fights he wants.

 

Who's #1? Not for me to say. Paulie or Torres lays about as much claim to the top spot as Witter can. Let them straighten it out in the ring.

 

Paulie and Torres have very little claim to the no.1 position, especially considering the favorable treatment they both received in their most previous fights. Pretty much everyone has Witter ranked right behind Hatton in that division. Regardless, we all know the issue isn't Witter's status in the division. Hatton won't fight him because of the risk/reward factor. Hatton is naming LW's and SFW's as potential opponents, meaning he really doesn't care about the no.1 contender in his divsion. Like most fighters, Hatton is going after the biggest paydays.

 

I don't know how much Witter ranks above those two, or really why, but yeah, Hatton's looking for the big fights like everyone else.

Hatton also has said he doesn't wantto fight Witter because Witter's acted like a complete ass trying to goad him into fighting. He wants the Hatton payday as well.

Personally, I wouldn't mind seeing this.

well then I guess that means that he has a shot at beatting hatton cuz both Mags and Torres can beat Hatton. not saying they would, but he is not by any means out of thier class. They are in the same class.

Hatton is ducking Witter and he has been for years, its the reason that Witter left Warren some years back.
