What's worse.... A journalist ducking out of a press conference or Pac ducking out of of a 40 million dollar fight because of a drop of blood?

Tim Smith ducked? Where did he learn to do that?

I've heard many times on this board that certain actions could lead others to believe you are suspicious? Damn, doesn't that sound familiar?

Why would a respectable journalist put their careers in jeopardy by reporting unconfirmed facts? Why would boxers risk their careers and integity with cheating?

    Just thoughts to think about.

What's the statute of limitation for libel cases????? Anybody with a gram of gray mater could answer.

For New york, it is one year, meaning that Pac can still sue NY daily news up to a year from publication or airing.

The dogma is win one case at a time, and use that case to build up for the other case.

getting a positive result in one case would generally support a case with similar framework.

You just don't go suing everybody. Chose the weakest first, but capable of paying. Win that case, then sue the next one using the previous ruling as further support. Least expensive way opf doing it.

BTW, for those who stated that Pac does not have a case, here is an educated reading :

Do you think that Teddy Atlas conducted himself with Journalistic responsibility and integrity?

That is a simple question with simple answer.

Pac will not sue Atlas of the newspaper. The lawsuit is a joke and a way to save face. Get over it. Pacquiao ran to Clottey. All he had to do was accept 10 more days of testing (and all Mayweather had to do was to cut 10 days, I know) but he didn't. Pac and his camp made excuses, lied, and called the fight dead multiple times. Then Pac ran to Clottey. They're both in the wrong, they are both to blame, but Pacquiao Team Pac were the ones calling it off, announcing different opponents and such. Floyd was still trying to get it done 2 days after the mediation was over. Get over it people.

why would tim smith risk his career?

because he thought Pac would never find out about it. smith hit it in the middle of his column. if he really had any eveidence he would have made it a lead story. he tried to sneak it by, but the PAc army saw it and alerted Pac's team in Manila. smith tried to sneak it throug in the middle of the column.

now tim is quiet and will not step up and defend himself. he hopes it will all blow over. the promoters won't sue the paper beause they need the paper. smith must have gotten an envelope or some other kind of incentive to pen the false article. it's false until he shows the evidence or names names.

Team Pac can't sue Smith or Atlas because they'll claim it was first amendment, freedom of press. They don't have to name their source unless it's a matter of another crime being committed. So, what's the point.

It's poor journalism to quote heresy and speculation as fact.

I dunno how many of you have had the opportunity to read Tim Smith's column/articles on a regular basis but I absolutely love the guy (n/h). He's one of the few columnists that consistently has me laughing due to the sarcastic tone of his pieces.

With that out of the way, Tim was just doin' his job callin' out Pacquiao because the man is full of **** and most likely a juicer as all signs - not to mention the climate of sports in the 21st century - indicate. If Tim Smith said anything that was super crazy he'd be gettin' sued . . . but he ain't. Now that tells you somethin' doesn't it.

If Smith really believed what he wrote he could have challenged Pac at the press opener. He coulda pulled a Matlock and killed Pac and Arum by revealing his source... BUT HE DIDN'T. We can only wonder why.

That aside, any lawsuits against Smith or Paulie Girl will be dependent upon the result of the suit versus Mayweather. Obviously that suit will layout the proof to the other possible lawsuits. If Pac wins against Mayweather, you can bet Smith and Paulie will fold as a result. Thus Smith and Paulie are living on borrowed time in a way.

Writers never reveal their sources. If they did they would never be trusted again and that would hurt them professionally.

He won't sue Malignaggi, Smith, Atlas, Cotto, Berto, or Cintron because he knows all of those cases would be thrown out just like the one that's on the table right now. These lawsuits are all worthless and will be thrown out. Pacquiao is hiding something.

People have sued and won against writers, magazines, and even WADA regarding false accusations about doping specifically.

Tim Smith is a real reporter, and wil be protected. Atlas works for ESPN, and has to many media connnections to get hurt. I'm noticing that a lot of people are taking sides and forgetting the sport. Boxing was hurt by this, losing the biggest fight in years is going to cost the sport. Atlas is a piece of ****, and anyone who was around him in days he was half-assed trainer knows it. He is now a snitch- for- pay, and a guy who out of jealousy or wanting to promote self came out with a suspect story.

I expect that from Atlas, Tim Smith I don't. Smith needs to step up and clear things on the issue.

Look at Atlas when he said that.
